is Dick Zornes coming out of retirement?
We should be so lucky.
Honestly, I'll be willing to bet that they either hire someone on the current staff, or someone who has close ties to the program but isn't necessarily on the current staff (there are several).
And if they don't go that route, I still think that it will be a PNW guy, which probably rules out someone like the CSU-Pueblo Coach. Remember, EWU's biggest comparative advantage over the rest of the Big Sky Conference is the ability to recruit the majority of its roster from the state of Washington. HS football is highly under-rated in WA, and EWU is definitely the beneficiary of only having two major in-state Division I programs. There are a ton of in-state Big Sky caliber athletes, and when you can recruit those guys while providing in-state scholarship money it greatly reduces overhead. This is the "great equalizer" when it comes to competing with schools like UM and MSU. There just isn't a ton of in-state talent in Montana, and as such, they have to provide a large amount of out of state scholarship money.
Which makes me wonder - I wonder how Coach B will have to realign recruiting efforts at Nevada. He won't necessarily be able to fall back on traditional recruiting areas and will be more focused in California. As much as I'd love to see Coach Taylor take over at EWU, I am wondering if he doesn't go with Coach B to Nevada for that very reason.
