Coach Bone

Good interview...

Couple items. Sounds like their approach to KU will be a 2-2-1 zone on defense and really slow down the tempo on offense. Our passing thru the passing lanes better be crisp.

He confirmed some scheduling rumors. Gonzaga on the road, UW on the road, and either Indiana or Arizona.

I really wish the Beavers weren't scared to play us.

Doh, I forgot to include that. We're playing in the OSU tourney next year. I thought we'd get our shot at them up in Alaska this year, but it looks like we'll need to wait until next year. ;-)

Where are we going to keep all of our awards from this year? The lobby display at the Stott is going to start to get full. :-)

Yet another reason we need a new arena...

Congratulations to Coach Bone.

When his fellow coaches have honored him, he clearly deserves it. The awards where some talking heads vote don't carry as much weight for me.

• Bone, who led Portland State to the NCAA Tournament, interviewed with De Carolis and crew for two hours last Thursday. Then he never heard back from them.

“Yes and no,” Bone says, when asked if he was disappointed. “I’m not disappointed as much as surprised they didn’t want to hear more. They must not have liked what I said.”

When Bone’s wife told him the Beavers had hired Robinson, he reacted with, “Who?” Bone adds: “I had never heard of him. I thought she’d say Hunter.”

• Bone says he doesn’t believe the allegations against PSU players Scott Morrison and Jeremiah Dominguez in Mexico hurt his chances of landing the OSU job.

He expects the suspensions of both players to be lifted soon since the school has been investigating the Mexico incident. “We want to make sure 100 percent … and we haven’t heard anything different in the past two, three days,” Bone says.

Morrison denies hitting Michigan man Kyle Meagher, who needed reconstructive jaw surgery in Cabo San Lucas.

“I have a good relationship with (Dominguez), and he says he wasn’t involved in anything,” Bone says. “And I believe him.”

Coach Bone seems to have taken a level headed approach to this whole situation and he is to be commended for that. Sounds like JD will get to play next year, which is a wonderful thing, assuming he's innocent, as he seems to be.

PSU head coach Ken Bone says many parents appreciate coaches who make demands on players, and the kids themselves welcome challenges.

That's a great story.

Anyone who's been involved in any sort of coaching for youth sports can relate.

This column in the Seattle Times is about Brandon Roy. But Ken Bone is quoted several times. It shows how much Ken Bone is respected in the Seattle area. It sures helps PSU having a coach with Bone's rep.

I saw this over on the O-live site:

Great quote on the question by Suke (douche) about what you tell your team in a 16 seed that's about to play Kansas.

We've got to get that arena built.

Agreed. At least get the man a window!! I wouldn't say that this article is really encouraging with the respect to the prospects of keeping coach Bone at PSU, but at least there's a chance. Its a bummer that the Viks are having so much success in this terrible recession, it makes it a lot harder to get things done.

Well, it doesn't make it harder to okay a project. We can talk about financing later.

Somehow I believe Bone when he says he wants to stay. Lets hope no other schools in the NW becomes too interested.
