Coaching rumors

I keep seeing people (including our own local media) say coaching at Montana affords you more exposure than coaching at EWU. I don't believe that to be true at all anymore . I think winning affords you more exposure, and because of that EWU and Baldwin have been on ESPN and all over national sports coverage plenty lately. the EWU brand is definitely more recognizable than the UM brand over the last decade. Partly because of great marketing, the red turf, big upsets and the national championship, but more so just because of the winning . Natty game, three semi finals, the quarters against Nova and the Sam Houston game this year account for 6 total games on ESPN2 in 4 years. Definitely way more than Montana. And of course there's the random things like EWU being discussed on Game Day and the EWU flag flying at several gamedays. Vernon on Jim Rome. Stuff like that that all adds up. You just don't see Montana with that type of exposure anymore.

It kinda does, they were just on 60 minutes a couple of weeks ago...

I laughed at college game day this year when they were talking about North Dakota State and the announcers asked who they were playing that week, "some school out of Montana". Haha, now that's brand recognition...

National spotlight build up for this year's FCS Kickoff was defiantly lacking... NCAA and ESPN to blame there. I am guessing there might be more of it next season.

Some of this smack is getting old and is terrible smack. Griz have a good team, Eagles have a good team. Griz have great fans and some not so great, and so do the Eagles. It's gonna be a great game on Saturday. I dislike the Eags because they're a competitive rival (more than MSU is) and they have an ugly field IMO, but I respect a quality opponent and I hope like hell the Griz will win. Time to put on my shades so my eyes don't go blind.
