KEX named Beau Baldwin as one of Oregon State's top 2 targets. The other is Bronco Mendenall, but I have a hard time seeing him leave BYU for Oregon State.

I just heard Lindsay Schnell on the BFT. She says that a lot of Oregon State fans are wanting Beau.
BFT?

Sorry, Bald Faced Truth. It's a radio show.

We've known this since winning the national title. Which is why maximizing his time at EWU via donations to upgrade the facilities is critical. After he leaves (he will leave for a FBS job) we need to make sure we have the facilities to continue to attract future recruits and coaches.

I can't believe Nebraska hired Riley... Shocking. The radio station I was listening to opened by saying "Mike Riley is out at Oregon State," and I thought they meant he was fired.

He did come up under Bear Bryant... Still hard to fathom.

If Baldwin leaves, and its a big if, he has left the program in GREAT shape. We have more talent returning next year than we may have ever had. We have growing fan support, and an administration who understands the need for facilities improvement.

I would hate to see BB leave, he has been a great coach and ambassador for the school and program, but if he does, we won't miss a beat...

Apparently Nebraska only had to pay $500,000 to buyout Riley's contract.
I am sure he saw the writing on the wall and they probably wanted to make a change anyway.

Is the new President supportive of athletics? Haven't heard much.

I think so. I've met her a couple times and would like to think she is. I think everyone at the school sees what athletics, especially football, can do for the university in general. I think she will do great things here and I know the athletic admin will continue to move EWU in the right direction. 100% all in with EWU right now and riding the wave....its a great time to be an Eagle

Any reliable sources mentioning Beau for the Colorado State job?
It seems to me that would be a good step for an FCS coach or a coordinator position at a Pac-12 school.

Yeah, a couple degrees of separation...

For what it's worth, Scout.com's National Director of Recruiting is a close friend of mine. A former teammate of his does CSU's radio broadcast and states that Coach B is at the top of their list...

I found it funny that while reading an article on cougcenter.com about the basketball loss to Idaho & a long string of comments evolved around Beau coaching football at OSU.

While losing Beau would be a huge downer, one thing that I haven't seen mentioned much is Bill Chaves. EWU athletics has done nothing but grow exponentially under his watch. He's the one that made the decision on hiring Baldwin... his other top choice (that was taken away by Bama) was Jim McElwain. Hopefully he will stick around a long time as well.

I think Colorado State will stay in-house and promote their OC (also named Baldwin) unless someone comes in from left field. I know Oregon State was very impressed with Eastern when we played last year. I don't necessarily mean in terms of Eastern winning, but they really felt the team was professional in their demeanor and handled the situation well.

I would speculate that if either was looking at Beau, it would be OSU. I know UNLV is interested, but that is a momentum killer for a coach with upward trajectory. The rumor is that they may wind up hiring a high school coach as theyr deep down their list.

Agreed SE, I've mentioned it numerous times I feel Chaves is the unsung hero and responsible for the success' Eastern athletics has experienced of late.

I'm not surprised about UNLV. I'm pretty sure only a couple of head coaches have ever moved on and become head coaches of other programs after leaving that hell hole. I know Sanford at Indiana State is one of them.

I totally agree. Chaves is the main part here. Not only has he created a winning culture now, I think he's done it in a way that is sustainable for the future. It's been a slow growth, maybe even slower than some of us would like (Gateway), but with a slow sustainable growth will come a sustainable future. He's growing it the right way. And really it's not that slow in the grand scheme of things. And it's going to have to be sustainable, because Beau is going to go somewhere, sometime soon. And you know what, so is Chaves. I could see Chaves drawing interest from bigger universities just as Beau is.
