Coaching rumors

I keep seeing people (including our own local media) say coaching at Montana affords you more exposure than coaching at EWU. I don't believe that to be true at all anymore . I think winning affords you more exposure, and because of that EWU and Baldwin have been on ESPN and all over national sports coverage plenty lately. the EWU brand is definitely more recognizable than the UM brand over the last decade. Partly because of great marketing, the red turf, big upsets and the national championship, but more so just because of the winning . Natty game, three semi finals, the quarters against Nova and the Sam Houston game this year account for 6 total games on ESPN2 in 4 years. Definitely way more than Montana. And of course there's the random things like EWU being discussed on Game Day and the EWU flag flying at several gamedays. Vernon on Jim Rome. Stuff like that that all adds up. You just don't see Montana with that type of exposure anymore.

It kinda does, they were just on 60 minutes a couple of weeks ago...

Oh they've gotten plenty of "press" the past few years. Unfortunately, it's been for all the wrong reasons.

Here's a thought . . . .EWU vs. the Gators of Florida. . .for 1 Million!
Would it be worth it or too far to travel?

How about this thought.
Oregon Ducks win the FBS playoffs
Eastern Eagles win the FCS playoffs.

Both #1 teams meet for the first game of the of the year in 2015....
Has that ever happened?

Some of this smack is getting old and is terrible smack. Griz have a good team, Eagles have a good team. Griz have great fans and some not so great, and so do the Eagles. It's gonna be a great game on Saturday. I dislike the Eags because they're a competitive rival (more than MSU is) and they have an ugly field IMO, but I respect a quality opponent and I hope like hell the Griz will win. Time to put on my shades so my eyes don't go blind. 8-)

This, lets talk football.

Both teams are really good, it should be a great game. Both teams will show some new wrinkles that weren't there a month ago, so it should be interesting. This game always seems to come down to the 4th quarter and they are always entertaining.

Looking forward to a great game and truth is, most Griz fans you meet in person are really good peeps...

That's me..I'm just a dick on the interwebz

We all are...it would be pretty boring without all the smack talk

You making the game this weekend?

Shit I wish...that's a long trip from my current location however.

Oregon State coach Mike Riley was just announced as the new coach at Nebraska. Pac-12 job now open in our backyard.

OHHHH F! :ohno:
Here we go again!
This is a great spot for him.
Shocked that Nebraska would want Riley :coffee:

I am sure that several people in the Beav athletic department remember that game from last year. This one and CSU actually worry me.

Crap this is the kind of stuff that we don't need right now with the Griz coming in....why can't all this shuffling stop until after the bowl season is over! The NCAA really needs to step in and legislate this! I get that you need to begin recruiting and things of that nature, but for the most part most of the teams seasons are not over.

Not to worry ... Coach is a pro. He'll have us ready to go. And if he gets a chance to go to either of these spots, that's great for him and great for us as a university. Think about it ... if beau gets OSU, our last two coaches went to Pac-12 schools. Pretty impressive...

I can't believe Nebraska hired Riley... Shocking. The radio station I was listening to opened by saying "Mike Riley is out at Oregon State," and I thought they meant he was fired.

Totally agree! What is his WOW factor?
I would be totally bummed if I was a Cornhusker fan.
Maybe they thought they were hiring the other Oregon (Duck) school's coach.

Oregon State: Some names to keep an eye on at Oregon State include Utah State head coach Matt Wells, Pitt head coach Paul Chryst and BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall.

Colorado State: Offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Dave Baldwin is expected to serve as interim head coach. Baldwin was nominated for the Broyles Award this year.

If the Utah State coach got hired at Oregon State, Beau would be a natural there. Barnes (ex EWU AD) is there I think...

I feel the same way. I thought OSU would fire Riley after next year setting up perfect for Baldwin to take over...There's no sense in worrying. Lets enjoy this Playoffs run and getting another Natty!!

Coach has set this program up for success this year and into the future. I want him to stay, but I would never want to hold him back from taking a big step up. I will be proud of him if he gets the CSU or OSU jobs, not so much USU because I think that is more of a stepping stone job that people seem to want to get out of as soon as possible.

KEX named Beau Baldwin as one of Oregon State's top 2 targets. The other is Bronco Mendenall, but I have a hard time seeing him leave BYU for Oregon State.

I just heard Lindsay Schnell on the BFT. She says that a lot of Oregon State fans are wanting Beau.
