Coaching rumors

I'm going to start a rumor saying we are looking for a new defensive coordinator and a positional coach for all positions...

I am going to state a fact...your wrong....red birds are a very good team. We will be better next year with all our freshman. Maybe a transfer or two.

Coach Baldwin is obviously a great coach and person and a friend to many of us who post here. Dick Zornes is the greatest coach EWU will ever have, not because of just what he did on the field but what he did off the field. I think Beau would also testify to this if he had time but he's busy winning another national title. The video below is almost twenty minutes but it will demonstrate why I feel the way I do.

Hands-down, bar-none, with 100% certainty, the greatest Eagle to have ever lived.

this exactly

Now that this has hit the blog I guess I will respond. Russell Wilson did this when he left NC State for Wisconsin, Byron Wesley just did this to leave USC hoops and transfer to Gonzaga. If an athlete earns their degree and they've redshirted a year they have this option. Of course there is more to it than that but that's the basics. I've been concerned about this for quite some time but I don't think it will happen.

VA loves it here, that is obvious. But if he were to leave I would wish him well and root for his success. He is just an outstanding young man. He will win the Payton tonight and he deserves it but his leadership is what really impresses me. Watching him with his baby son at the EWU-Zag game last week was special.

Our d-line is so young, we lose our two stud linebackers and replacing Jake Rodgers won't be easy. But we have a couple of great players applying for medical redshirts who could help put us back in the national title game next year. Let's win a fourth Big Sky championship first.

He would have to pursue a graduate degree in a field of study not offered at EWU.

I think there's an exemption for transferring up designed to restrict big programs from bogarting FCS schools...IE: exactly this scenario. Do you have any examples of where an FCS kid has moved without losing a year?

Good clarification regarding what type of degree he would pursue and also pointing out that the examples I cited are not great comparisons. Firmly believe it is a moot point, VA isn't going anywhere.

To All,
I leave all the Coaching Rumors to you Pros. I have always said should Coach Baldwin leaves, he will be greatly missed, he is very well deserving any looks at another job if it is what he wants. I am hoping they are just Rumors, come February he will be there talking about Incoming Athletes. Here is hoping AD Chaves can find some monies for Beau and his Asst Coaches. Also get something going about the "Gateway Project"   :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: Vic Wallace

To All,
My daughter 5 oldest of my 7 children stated she heard that Jake Dad was in stable condition, that means he should be moved from ICU, I hope. That is very Great News. She saw the news @ noon today on C-2. Here is hoping he have a Speedy Recovery, and we all continue to keep Jake dad and family in our prayers. Thanks to all Redbirds fans for showing your concerns for Jakes Dad Family. We all consider you very Special People. God Bless ALL/ Lets keep Praying. !!!!!Vic Wallace

To All,
Last night after the EWU/UW Game, Larry Weir Radio Announcer, stated that Coach Baldwin, Vernon Adams and Cooper Kupp are in New York for the Walter Payton Award. We can all be happy to have two of our Players up for the award. I think those 4 games that Vernon missed may hinder his receiving the award. At least he was fortunate to still be considered, after missing the four games. Don't what time, or if it going to be televised. Good Luck to Coach Baldwin and Asst Coaches, Adams and Kupp. Great Players, and Young Men. G"OOD LUCK TO ALL" Vic Wallace

Is it safe to say Evan Day is applying for a sixth year? I would imagine his situation makes him a virtual shoo-in for next year.

One other thing to note: coaches don't operate under the assumption that an increase in pay alone qualifies a promotion. Most head coaches I've met would rue going somewhere else to be a coordinator. Once you run the show, it's hard to leave that behind.

Once your the man...and Beau is definitely the man. Plus OSU's pay increase isn't generational. It's significant, but less than Beua cod be offered in the not too distant future.

to All,
Earlier today I was incorrect when I stated that Coach Baldwin, Vernon Adams, and Cooper Kupp, was in New York for Walter Payton Award, portion of it was correct. They are in Philly, Cooper Kupp is not with them, however, AD Chaves and Dave Cook are there. So far haven't heard who won, I don't think it will be Vernon, due to the 4 games missed. Hope I am wrong. Vic Wallace

The Griz signed their new coach, Bob Stitt, inventor of the Fly Sweep.

Should be interesting in Missoula, a lot of people are high on the guy, but he was in D2 for 15 years and only won 1 playoff game. I thought the Griz would higher a much bigger name with more success at the D1 level.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out. I don't think it was their best hire....
