Not sure why y'all were so confident you'd win to be honest. This EWU team is god awful. If our offense didn't need a quarter to gel, we might have put up 70 already. Maybe y'all just need to gel as well but your team clearly has a long way to go

I wasn't. Predicted a big loss. But not this bad. You guys look to have a great new QB. It's clearly a down year for EWU. We will lick our wounds and do this again next week. Haha good luck on your season.

The difference between you and the rest of this board, is that you enjoy being right more than seeing EWU win.

You're wrong dumb ass.

Oh please. You jumped down people's throats for being optimistic for a team they loved. You lavished in EWU getting beat down tonight. That is the difference between you and the rest of this board.

I think we're finally starting to see who the EWU fans are and the Johnny come lately's. I have plenty of confidence in this team moving forward. This game was ugly. Better this week than next in my opinion. Excuse me for not wanting to scream the sky is falling after an overdue drubbing to a Big 12 school.

It would sure be nice to get a confidence building win against Valparaiso next week instead of a game against NDSU. Chaves doesn't leave us any outs.

Well, ultimately, we needed to be 1-1 after two weeks. If we can make a massive improvement and beat NDSU next week, we'll be fine.

The problem I see is how bad the effort has been today. Dropped passes, busted coverages, missed tackles... Has an Eastern player broken a single tackle today? And the worst is seeing these guys take themselves out of the game late by staying down on the field at the end of a play. The signs are very bad.

We're just going to have to throw this one away- I wouldn't even watch the film- and start anew tomorrow working towards NDSU.

Everyone needs to chill. If this is a one and done bad game, great. If not, we will have a bad season but every program has bad seasons. Realize that we are not accustomed to losing and this loss or a bad season is hard to accept. Bring it back to Earth- we are are a regional FCS D1 school playing in a smaller state that has two PAC12 schools. We have been killing it with the sh***y, left over resources that we have. P5 FBS fans are coming to OUR forum to talk shit about them beating an FCS school, lol. We just shut out Richmond in the Quarterfinals 38-0 in the Quarterfinals.... There is a lot to be proud of. Keep your chins up.

I think it's really hard to see EWU not at least be competitive. Typically, we've at least kept our FBS games interesting, at least for almost ten years. I think we got beat pretty handily in a couple of our FBS games before 2010, and still had good seasons. But, it seems since then, these are a good litmus test on whether we will be at the caliber to play in a NC. I'm not ready to write the season off. And, even if we have a rough start to the season, I think the players and coaches can improve in season, and still make it a good one. We have a ton of talent. If they can all put it together, this could be a strong team.

Gubrud has been VERY bad also. Horrible throws all 2nd half. What a F'ing joke. Nice showing Eags.

You're the joke, JasonUM. Stfu you embarrassment.

Huh? Because I'm not a blind ASS homer like you? Go check the prediction thread. I was the only one who saw this coming. Stop running your mouth. 95% of you predicted a win. Stop being homers and realize this team isn't last year. Best is NOT Beau, the WR's are significantly worse than last year. This is going to be a struggle all year. Sooner you admit that the sooner you can get on with your football season.

No, because you openly trash the team you allegedly support, after one game. Obviously we didn't play well, but it's not because of a lack of talent. We didn't execute, which would be more indicative of coaching, but again, it's been ONE GAME. Trashing the team and throwing in the towel makes you appear like a troll, even if you're merely a just a chicken little bandwagoner.

We lost 55-7 to Cal in 2009 and made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs. We lost 48-24 to Nevada in 2010 and won the National Title. We barely lost to UW in 2011 and went 6-5 and hung with Oregon in 2015 and went 6-5. Point being, you can't judge a season after one pay for play game. I'll wait until week two to panic.

They are going to get destroyed by more next week. NDSU is better than Texas Tech.

Not sure what you're laughing about; despite Jason being a douche, NDSU has beat better P5 teams than TT. As much as I hate NDSU, primarily because of their fans, their team is legit. TT has been a bottom feeder since Leach left.

Last year was TT's 2nd team in 25 years to not go bowling. They did fall after Leach left, but they've still won 7-8 games most years with last year being the low point. They aren't a bottom feeder.

TT has an above average FBS program and by insulting people you just look bitter. Cut your losses, move on, and expect a better game against NDSU. People expected TT's offense to drop off this year with the loss of the QB, but it doesn't appear to have dropped off much. With a better D they could realistically win 8-10 games. Trashing them just makes EWU look that much worse.

Trashing TT? While "bottom feeder" may be a bit harsh, they've been average to poor over the last 6 years. Expecting EWU to win a close game given both teams recent performance was certainly no stretch, as certain trolls would have you believe, regardless of today's outcome. EWU gave up too many big plays, and didn't execute on ones we make all the time.

I do expect a better game against NDSU. One game does not a team nor a season make. Nor will I abandon my team, like JasonUM. :twocents:

EWU doesn't draw the kind of revenue to pay garbage teams to fly clear across the country to play us, nor does playing garbage team prepare us for the playoffs. Agree to disagree on Chave's scheduling resume.

I agree.Today's game will actually benefit us far more than killing an inferior team. You don't gain anything beating up on inferior opponents except an extra W.

Rough game today.
Eags had way too many things going against them to win or stay close.

Next Week another HUGE challenge.

I disagree that a cupcake once in awhile are not needed... Especially if its a FCS team that counts toward the playoffs. (I know) they say they scraped that rule, but the did not.

The Eags need a team to regroup on, and ND State is not that team.

Of course EWU will be competitive. We just opened on the road 1000 miles away against a Big 12 team. People have been acting like TT is Oregon State or PSU, but their bad season last year was more the exception than the rule, and winning programs don't stay down long. All the national pundits have been focusing on them losing their QB as the reason for their demise, but they've been popping new QBs in that offense for years without a dropoff.

EWU will be just fine. We got ambushed by an underrated FBS team today and the tea and fans need to just throw away the tape, chalk the game up as a learning experience, and go beat NDSU next week. I bet everyone who has already given up on this tea will be surprised next week.

Losing 56-10 and getting dominated in every facet is what gets us nothing. If we finish 6-5, we're out of the playoffs. It doesn't matter who we lost to. Montana plays Valpo and Savannah State, and if they win 7, they're in. Sometimes you've got to just play the odds. And beyond that, winning builds confidence. Losing big does nothing to help in the long run.

I feel as though the hard part is that we schedule games several years in advance. Its near impossible to know what kind of team we will have four years from now, should Chaves decide to make an agreement with another university today, which is what the market demands. If you have a home and home, but are going to the opponent's house first, you are essentially choosing to schedule a game almost five years from now. The Florida game was scheduled quiet a while ago, well before we had Barrier in the fold. We may have struck out and had crap for QB (although unlikely for EWU lol)... My point is, if you schedule a hard FBS team but then are simply obligated to have a return game from a home and home, then you will never make anyone happy. With that mentality, it is near impossible to play a JMU, NDSU, SDSU, OOC game any given year because we do still need those money games. I just wish Chaves would do something about this stadium

Taking home - homes with a team you are likely to beat seems safe. Why on Earth do we travel places like Fordham and South Dakota with our even getting a return trip?

Either way, water under the bridge. Chaves has his philosophy and isn't going to change.

I hope this is the kind of game we can bounce off. The problem is that we actually got progressively worse as the game went on. There isn't anything from today we can build from.
