FCS Kickoff: #1 EWU vs. #17 SHSU Game Thread

Have we done a predictions thread yet? Or are predictions buried somewhere in another thread?

Either way, my prediction is a fast game, fairly high scoring for the good guys and only minimal sloppiness. I think we'll see some turnovers from both teams and a fair amount of penalties on passing plays that combined with EWU's high powered offense could keep the chains moving early and often.

I think Vernon plays solid with a few big pass plays, but the story of the day will be the running game. Big numbers from the running backs is what I'm predicting. I also expect a special teams TD (or two).

No thanks. I've seen enough of Sam Houston State in the playoffs Two of the last three teams to beat Eastern in the playoffs were Southland teams. If I'm not mistaken, Eastern hasn't beaten a Southland team since crushing Northwestern State in the '97 playoffs. Since that time, we've lost to Nicholls State, SFA, and Sam Houston State (3x). Prior to that, I recollect we had 4 in a row against Southland teams.

I'll believe it when I see it...defensively. Not from lack of talent to be sure. Scheme/formation/bend don't break(or bend over and take it) is on coaching staff. Offense will bail us out as always leading EWU to a 42-28 victory after going into the 4th qtr. 28-21. It will be exciting as all get out!!

Eagle fans this one is over by halftime. I have been saying it all week. Sam Houston State wnat to hang their hat on the last 3 years of their program. Well its back to eating humble pie as they will be luck to go .500 this season. I dont care how many FBS transfers they have, their butts warm the bench just as good as the rest of them. Eagles win and win big 56-10.
