EWURanger,
Sorry, I am giving air045, credit to the new list of Commits, it should have gone to you, Thanks for the list.
We have the type of Coaches that will have Players play any positions they desire. Look at Zach Wimberly DL, (Tumwater High School Terror), when Cody Humphrey TE went down, Zach was converted to TE, and he did an "Outstanding Job" in TE position, he ever made some outstanding blocks in some of the games. I spoke to him many times, he plays very hard, and love this team. Vic Wallace

Vic,

The only loose ends on the recruiting trail is the Benjamin Twins. Very little being said with no mention of them anywhere. Have you heard anything on them, are they still in the mix?
Scroll up this page and you will see one (Nzuzi) committed. No word on his twin Nsimba. My bet is he ends up at SJSU.

Wrong twins. Nzuzi and Nsimba last name is Webster.
My bad. On the Sac State board they are saying there is a rumor that Nsimba Webster has committed there.

Sac State? I doubt it, especially when his brother just verbal'd to EWU. Why would he go to Sac State when he could come to Eastern and play with his brother?

Very doubtful - the only other thing I could think of that would outweigh playing with your brother would be maybe playing at the FBS level (maybe). In that case, he probably goes to SJSU.

SJSU originally asked him to Grey shirt, he's probably weiging his options. Rumor has it he's visiting SJSU this weekend to make decision.

Decision??
Go to Eastern have a great college experience at a small college where they know you and you play a LOT
Go to SJSU and get lost in the big college and sit on the bench

This is a pretty significant amount of verbals before signing day for a team with only 63 schollies and a little over 20? seniors gone. Hate to ask but does anyone know if any of these guys are a Prop or grayshirting?

Grayshirt is another new term and is applied to the prospect that signs a letter of intent in February, but doesn't report in the fall with his teammates. He delays entry to college until midyear, i.e. January.

That NCAA five-year clock doesn't start ticking until the player enrolls as a full time student, so gray-shirting is really a delayed version of red-shirting. For Example, Texas Tech, signed 34 players in February 2006, but NCAA rules prevent them from enrolling more than 25 to start the fall. Some of those nine other players gray-shirted during the 2006 fall season. They cannot enroll in college as full time students, can’t receive their scholarship, nor practice.

It is like getting an extra year of practice, because most of these players don’t see the game field until two years later and they have the advantage of going through an extra spring practice.

clawman,
I did remember seeing the two players at their residence with Coach Baldwin, I haven't heard or seen any of them. I know about the two Webster Players. Maybe tomorrow if things work out right could check out at MBB Game. Also found out we have 3 Prop 48. I met this young man ,DJ Martin, and Keonte White. Last name Balling, when I met him I taught he was going out balling  One of our Coaches said that Balling is "LEGIT". First name I do not remember. He also stated all three are doing well in classes. I don't how work so damn great with 63 Scholarships. Glad I don't have to do it'. He is a Master mind. Vic

tski,
I laughed when I mention J-Lo. We have approximately 5 Jakes on the roster. Lets utilize process of elimination, sister works for FB Program? NC Player? WSU Transfer? (CV), or Salem Jake? Looking forward to meeting you and all on Feb 22nd. Don't forget will be at "Pence Union Building (PUB)", which is adjacent to the Bookstore, City Bus drop off all personnel in front, and Pearce Hall (round Dorm) entrance to Parking lot 10. Saturday 22, at 5 pm. Come early, fills up very fast.Take care. Vic Wallace

My understanding of a gray shirt is a kid who puts off a year of eligibility but is promised a scholarship on the team. So if a kid gray shirted this recruiting cycle, he would be enrolled in the university but not practicing with the team and not on scholarship. He would be in the class of 2015 cycle. These are usually reserved for kids who are borderline FBS/FCS kids who will take a year to mature before getting full eligibility but they are also used for kids to qualify. Many kids don't want to take a year off of football so if a team offer a gray shirt, they may head to a JC. Again, this is my understanding. I believe they do not practice with the team. They may or may not work out but I'm not in the compliance department.

I wouldn't call EWU a small college, but you're right, SJSU is huge. And they have a crappy football team.

2013 enrollment:

EWU: 12,587
SJSU: 30,348

The worst part about San Jose is that they have awful fan support. Outside of the directional Michigans, they are always at or near the bottom of FBS attendance.

Looks like EWU is getting a preferred walk-on: Dylan Donohue of Lakewood HS

http://www.northwestprepreport.com/coleton-collins-dylan-donohue-declare-walk-on-status-to-big-sky-schools/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Further West at Lakewood High School is the home of the ultimate interior beast of the 2014 Class; or at least one of them. Dylan Donohue landed on our radar as a Junior in the Summer of 2012 as he mauled several D-1 Commits at the Trench Camp in Portland, Oregon. Nothing complicated about the 290 pounder. Just nasty sweaty whoop ass. And he does it down in and down out. While an Injury hampered him for a while during that stretch he came back and ruled the grid iron in 2013. No one really likes to take on Dylan because it is a job down in and down out. So tonight we had to smile the the 6’1″ Defensive Tackle called to say he was walk on to EWU.

“I am going to walk on at EWU as a preferred walk on. And I am so happy to be going there,” said Donohue.

Why EWU?

“The coaches for one, but its because of the family atmosphere that they have built there and I really feel like its a good fit for me. Between the Summer camps and the open house I attended it always felt like I was at home.”

Holy smokes. Why not a schollie, I wonder?

clawman,
Spoke to one of the Coaches last night at MBB, I asked him about the twins, I was so confused after he explained to me who is who. Reference the Benjamin Brothers, Nzuzi and Nsimba one of them had committed, the other was supposed to have committed at SJSU. When I mentioned they both wanted to play together, he stated they had decided to go different paths. Most of you will see when I said I do not put much into Oral Commitment, I wait for the 1st Wednesday each year in February for NLI, so we are just 5 days away from that big day. We could have as much as 80 people at the Luncheon or more. Vic Wallace

clawman,
After reading your thread, I still have the wrong last name, your thread said Webster, I have Benjamin, at least I got the first names correct, now we will wait until Wednesday Feb 5th ;) Vic

Alright Vic,

I took your advise and signed up for NLI luncheon. I'll see you there.
