Wow. That's a huge pick up.

Also, as per rivals: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Patrick-Green-151996" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and ESPN: http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/183538/patrick-green" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Article about Patrick Green's verbal to EWU:

Turlock High’s Patrick Green seeing ‘red’ after his verbal to FCS power Eastern Washington

Turlock High senior Patrick Green, who burst onto the recruiting scene last spring with an impressive combine season, will be seeing red when he suits up next season.

The 6-foot-4, 238-pounder committed to Eastern Washington University this weekend, after watching the Eagles’ 35-22 win Saturday at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo. (The verbal commitment is not binding, and players can change their mind prior to national signing day in February.)

EWU’s football program is 9-2 this season and 7-0 in the Big Sky Conference – and became a national icon a few years back when it unveiled a blood-red field. The Eagles’ shockingly bright field is a TV favorite.

While the red turf is cool, that’s not what convinced Green to commit. He also had offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado State and Nevada, but the Eagles made it clear to Green that he was an elite recruit for the Football Championship Subdivision school.

Really nice grab. I am an ESPN "Insider" so I have access to a lot of recruiting articles. Green apparently had offers from Arizona and Nevada, but chose Eastern because of our offense and coaching staff. I had to admit that I get a little nervous about him being listed as one of a handful of players who "could" end up with a USC offer "if" some of their other recruits drop out. I can see us beating out Nevada or Arizona from time to time depending on the recruit, but USC is a different story entirely. I doubt there are many California kids who wouldn't want to play for them.

Can we get this guy? I betcha he would come. In-state schollie! :mrgreen:

I love that we're recruiting a lineman named Troy Bacon. We can have a lot of fun with that one... don't know a damn thing about him, but with a name like that, I'm praying he chooses Eastern.

clawman,
Glad you had an opportunity to sit next to John Kreifels, LB family, he is a very nice young man to talk with. Another one is Isaac Anderson DB, from Prosser, Wa., these two young men impressed me very much when I saw them practice since practices started this year. They are both in the mix of things when they on the field, but speak so softly when you talk with them. You are right, we need to do something to recognize the parents of our Athletes when they are on campus, especially if they are at the games. Maybe they are, but I am not aware of anything. It has been very rough for me, missed all practices last week, and the send off of our team last Friday to Cal Poly. Will miss most of the practice this week, want to stay indoors and get better for the Game Saturday. Chris is right there keeping dad in line. Found out last Wednesday from my Doctor, I had the Flu, high temp, sinus problems :cry: :ohno: . Clawman, have never been this sore in my in my young life ;), everything hurt me. Even the problems with my back I was having, have subsided. Thanks to the man up above, and my Doctor, I have felt good the past 3 days, and pushing for complete healing by Friday. :nod: :clap: :clap: :clap: Hope to see you on Saturday, will be keeping my fingers, and everything crossed to be healthy again. This will be a "BIG, BIG GAME" this Saturday. You, your family, and other families, deserve credit for following our Team around to the different games. That is great. I remembered those days, as we age, everything get slowed, stop. ;) Have a great day. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace
Vic:
Take care and get strong for this weekend so you can send the seniors out of the regular season with the appreciation they deserve. You know better than all of us how hard they have worked and what they have done for the Eagle program
Seniors Rule!!

To All,
Went out to see the Players walk through yesterday. All was glad to see myself and my daughter. Spoke to Cassidy Curtis, he stated the Players were worried when they didn't see us. I will be staying home today and watch the game on TV. Give my tickets to my friend Neal Gmeiner, see if he can get $50.00 for both. They are great seats, on the 40yd line, to the right of the Press Box, right under year 2010, on Press Box. Got some material for the playoffs, the tickets in the section where we sits, will be $30.00 each, they are Premium Seats Section C/D. No tickets are above $30.00. Hope we continue winning so we can have a few games for our fans. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

I don't think we have ever had five verbals this soon in recruiting, how early did Cooper Kupp commit last year? Recruits often wait until late in the process hoping to get an offer from an FBS school (of course they sometimes decommit when they get that late offer).I wonder if Colorado EWUmomma had any influence in Conner Cain verbaling. Or maybe it was the game Saturday that convinced him to commit early. He also had an offer from Montana, among others. If EWUmomma could have been at the Coaches' show last night she would have been proud of Beau's recognizing the great job the offensive line did in the MSU win. They really were a 'Big Unit'.

I would disagree with the old thought that kids always wait for D1A offers.
I'm new to EWU and this board ( my son just gave his verbal commitment), but I will tell you that my son received his offer from EWU (to play d-line) when he was a junior and already had two offers from D1 schools in the Mountain West. I will be honest, my son was going to commit to one of the mountain west schools in our minds, because EWU stadium was the smallest of the schools he has offers from.

But since that time, EWU coaching staff recruiting efforts have been world class. They've attended a majority of my son's games, called him after his games to comfort him, after losses, and celebrated victories. They invited my son to the EWU locker room before and after home games. They called my son on his cell and celebrated the Oregon State win (that sealed the deal- my son was hooked on EWU football after that).
Lastly, my son is the only player in Eastern WA with an offer from EWU and that was very humbling and my son feels honored by their commitment in him- playing for EWU is now a big deal. Once we saw the gateway project and felt the positive vibe of this program, it's obvious to us all the EWU stock is on the rise.

When my son told Air force he was committed to EWU and not accepting their offer- they asked him why would he turn down a world class institution to go to EWU? My son replied, because he wants to play for a world class football program and that goes beyond the facilities and the size of the school. Bar none, Coach Baldwin and coach Graham have been the best recruiters of all the schools trying to get my son and that made the difference. Now schools still continue to recruit my son, but he tells them- he's 100% committed to EWU. This coaching staff does an amazing job recruiting and they've made us feel part of their family.

It's "The fit" that matters to us and we're excited to be a part of it for next 5 years!

That is awesome to here what we already knew about this coaching staff and their genuine honest approach to recruiting. Go Eagles!

A huge WELCOME to you, your son, and entire family to Eagle Nation, it is a great place to be.
My kids did not participate in sports at this level but as a close follower of the program I can say with all certainty that your son is in a VERY good place. The entire staff will guide him to becoming a fine young man you will continue to be proud of. :thumb:
Go Eagles

Is Jordan really only 6'2" 265? Does he play defense too?

Yes- he's only 6'2" - Plays both sides of the line and 3 year All league linemen. All 3 of his offers were for both offense or Defensive lines. Air Force, Army, and EWU told him he could pick ether side. Boise St was looking at him for center, until he chose to play defense for EWU. His film link is below.

You, and your son, will not be disappointed. My wife and I truly feel that our son is in the best place, and being mentored by some of the greatest coaches and gentlemen around. It's tough to hand your son over to someone else, but we have been really blessed the past 2+ years with the coaches influence in his life. The feeling of family is a true fact that I feel every time I'm around them. Welcome to the family!!! It will be a great ride!

To All,
Went out to see the team practice this evening, glad because T.J. Lee told me today was there last day of practice. After practice they were going to lift, and they will be going home for the Thanksgiving meals. I know they will all be glad to get home for some good home cooking. I am still getting over my sickness, so I left a little earlier than normal. Congratulations to our Coaches, Players, and staff for the "BIG SKY CHAMPIONSHIP'. W/O bragging, I predicted we were going to go undefeated in the Big Sky. I knew we have a winning program. :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: . Now we will wait, get healed, and go after the "V" on Dec 7th, 1 p.m. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace
