Hawaii vs UNC

as I do at my board, give your honest prediction, and your homer prediction

Honest
Hawaii 77
Northern Colorado 6

Homer
Hawaii 45
Northern Colorado 24

I know, I know, I should give the Bears more credit, but after last season...

I hope the Bears will supprise me, I think they could be a better team than my scores predict, but I also think that the first IA game, and a new offense will present some problems.

I don't think this game will be such a blowout as everyone is predicting. UNC will make it a respectable game and Hawaii will wonder what hit them. Overlooking an opponent is one of the biggest mistakes a team can make and it will come back to bite them. Adding to this it is the first game of the season and they will not be up to speed yet, so it might be an interesting contest.

Normally I would agree, but this game is just two different worlds of football, extremely lop-sided. I would be surprised to see UNC stay within 45.

When teams like Portland State and San Diego State meet, there is a small chance that the smaller level team will win, PSU did it to NM, some people can take you lightly, but there is a huge difference between a good BSC team playing a lowly MWC team to the worst BSC team playing the best WAC team. UH is not New Mexico, they are not Colorado, they are a whole new deal

BTW UH fans, congrats on landing yet another prep all-american RB, you guys look BCS bound next year.

Realistic:
UH - 78
UNC - 0

Optimistic:
UH - 75
UNC - 0

I just hope the players have fun and don't get injured.

GoBears, I saw your picture on the Big Sky website. Funny, you seemed taller when you post ?!?

I don't know anything about Hawaii except what over zealous fans, and home town newspapers have written.

Brian you really think the Bears wont put up a single pioint??
I think they will find the endzone at least once, plus a field goal or two.

I'll make a prediction once they actually post an official schdule on the website.

Dont hold your breath for that one, the way things have been going, the schedule will be posted in mid-august

I figure at some point they might want to try and start selling tickets and to do tht you sort of need a schdule posted... so they have to eventually post it right?

In my opinion this is the only score that matters:
UNC +$400,000
Hawaii -$400,000

I think that is the payout I read somewhere. We need the money and it beats traveling to Boise or Norman OK or some other place like that. Heck it couldn't really be any better for us because even if we do get blown out the game is so late in Hawaii that no one really will even notice. Not like if it is in a place like Oklahoma where the score and highlights would flash on the screen every 10 minutes why the whole country is watching.

Now to respond to the original thread:
homer pick: UNC 35 UH 34 (might as well go all the way right)
realistic pick: UNC 17 UH 63

I'm confused. Could you please clear this up for me?

The PSUviking guy has created two Hawaii football threads. Is this like a back of the bus/front of the bus kind of a thing?

If there are current posts on this thread, I'd like to post on the front of the bus. If that's okay with y'all?

Homer opinion: yall got an all expenses-paid trip to HAWAII. Who cares what the score will be?

Honest opinion: No one paid $400k to play a game with a team with the worst record in d1aa.

Relax bears. Enjoy the game. Hawaii will not be a hostile place. We welcome you.

Oh, and we fired the punter. He didn't have much work last year. The warriors will go for it on all 4th downs this year.

Last year we had slow first halves against SJSU, ASU, and Alabama. You never know. The Bears might make a game of it.

If the fireworks do happen, I can guarantee you it will be exciting to watch. I know it's not fun to watch your team lose, but Colt and his three veteran receivers are a thing of beauty to watch when their game is on.

The Bears are going to stand toe-to-toe with a record breaking offense. If you get schooled, at least it'll be by the best. No?

Aloha.

The way I look at it, we may (and probably will loose) but I would rather have gone out there and played the game than stay home because we were afraid to play a higher caliber team.

Hopefully though if we do get beat pretty bad it will piss the team off enough to want to come home and kick Chadron State's ass. I'd like to see a pissed off team take the field in the home opener.

Yeah good point, Chadron State really is a more important game. Hawaii is a body bag game and just about the money but Chadron is a must win in my opinion.

We need a Chadron thread, let's spend 4 months working up a hatred for them so we can kick their ass.
