Montana embarrasses the Big Sky again. (Again).

The embarrassing news from Missoula never stops.

It definitely doesn't stop. Nice to see some good news thrown in once in a while. Good for Crittenden, very impressive!

As a UM alum this is the type of news I like to see. I'm confident he will do well.

Whether they got charged as a "misdameaner" or not (in case they change the thread title later on, this is actually what they wrote), it's still egregious. They broke into a guy's home by climbing onto his second floor with a ladder. While the guy and his family were in the house sleeping. I don't blame Montana or their football program or their culture, or anything else. It was 5 dumbasses making bad decisions, no more, no less.

If Montana works to get these guys reinstated, that would be totally embarrassing. Then they assume the responsibility. I'd hope they cut ties and move on. Yet I strangely feel like they'll do whatever they can to put these guys on the field again.

Not a chance these kids would play for EWU again this year. My guess is they miss the ISU, its how Montana rolls.

Hell, Trumaine put his hands on a cop and was tazed for it, his punishment, missing 1 qtr against a D2. This is a lesser charge so they may not miss any time at all.

I feel a 1 game suspension, if they get that, fits the crime. They were at a house party drinking (all of age), called a DD for a ride home (responsible), walked down the street to meet ride, entered what they thought was a construction site (not smart) to get out of rain, had no idea a family resided in other part of residence, the other student (not the players) stole a case of beer from the garage (also not smart), family calls 911 and cops arrive. The poor girl who was the same DD who dropped them off earlier shows up in her PJs to pick them up and even she is arrested. All are booked for felony burglary (huge overreaction) and a 50k bail. All families need to post a non refundable 5k bail with bondsman. County attorney has no case and reduces charges to misdemeanor trespass. A small fine and community service. Not the crime of the century in my opinion. Not even close. Hence a 1 game suspension is plenty along with the humiliation the Missoulian caused in blowing up this story and making it front page news all over MT (which it shouldn't have been). There is no way these kids should be booted for the season in my opinion. This has already been blown out of proportion. The DD's dad is an attorney and is threatening a possible civil suit against Missoula PD for such an over reaction to arresting his daughter, who was doing a responsible thing and picking up people who were drinking and shouldn't be driving.

Nope and don't agree with much of what they say on many topics. Just a level headed person who sees that this entire thing was blown out of proportion. Do you have a son? If he did this would you agree he deserves to never play a down of college football again? What they did was stupid, idiotic, and reckless but at the end of the day not earth shattering. Heck even the law is making that statement with reduced charges.

These are not teenage boys. These are seniors, young men that deserve to be treated like adults. They obviously didn't care if they played another down of football or they would not have entered that house, regardless of whether it was being remodeled or they thought no family was there. It was 2:30 am. No excuses, and stupidity is not an excuse.

C'mon. Hookedongriz is right here. They SHOULD be acting like adults but most young men really don't emotionally or mentally mature until later in their 20's. It was a dumb thing to do, induced by booze, and there are players for every school in the nation that have done equally stupid things. A one game suspension hurts the team and some community service helps with the teaching. That's a fair sentence.

Thank you Kalm, it is good to see there are some other rational posters on the site. You are also correct in what you stated about maturity levels of young men. There is actually research and supported scientific data that states a human brain doesn't truly develop until the range of 22 to 25 years of age. Because of this fact, young men and women don't process completely consequences of their actions. Sorry but kind of interesting stuff that related to your comment. Probably why kids tend to have no fear and that changes as we get older.

My other social experiment was going to be what if you replace the names Van Ackern, Counts, and Schmaing, with these three names instead: Kupp, West, Wilson. Then take those three names and plug them into the exact same scenario that went down for the Griz players and tell me if your thoughts or reactions change at all? Sometimes I think that hatred for Griz creates a bit of bias in people's reactions, thoughts, and opinions. I am quite certain if it were those three in the exact scenario, lots of opinions on this board would change. If you claim otherwise, I'm not sure you're being honest with yourself.

I get the same feeling. The fans are already trying to play it off as not a big deal.

You are so full of crap. 99% of Griz Nation is ready to get the gasoline and pitchforks out and want these guys booted from the team. The other 1% are saying that it may not be as big of a deal as first thought as the county prosecutor keeps pushing the court appearances back to try and figure out what, if any, charges will be imposed. Here is a little more insight to what all occurred so that people can judge for themselves as opposed to the propaganda RJones tries to spread. RJones was one of the first "trolls" over on Egriz talking smack and giving all of you a bad name, like he usually does. Grow up ass hat. It will happen at EWU sometime as well. It's inevitable with kids making bad decisions. RJones will know it when it does.

I put you on blast for making generalizations based on a sample size of 2. Like I said, 99% of Griz fans were calling for these kids' heads without having all the facts. 1% were defending the kids and saying wait until the info comes out before you judge. You took that 1% and applied it to the majority when you said "Griz fans are already downplaying it." No, a few were. The majority was enraged. I called you on it and now you're mad.

And show me where I downplayed the crimes. I said they were stupid, not smart, selfish, and put their football days in jeopardy. But I also pointed out they aren't the crime of the century and were overblown by Missoula PD and newspapers. Would you argue that fact?

I said that eGriz is STARTING to play down the incident (indicating the start of the normal trend). And here we are, eGriz coming to the EWU board justifying these players returns to the team. We see this over and over and over again as every year there seems to be a sect of Grizzly players too stupid to function in society.

Yet here you are, advocating that your players are back on the field for one of the toughest games of the season. What a joke. My high school football team was held to a higher standard than UM, "The Harvard of the West", holds their athletes.

"Advocating that my players are back on the field for one of the toughest games games....." Holy crap maybe there really is a meth problem there as you seem to be on it. Please show me where I am advocating that these players shouldn't be punished. See this is further proof that you have an incredible tendency to exaggerate and embellish just like I was stating in my original post. Thanks for providing further support of that. I said I think a 1 game suspension is fair. Do you think it should be worse now that we know all the facts? By the way it's already been blown up by the media and social media crowd you'd think these kids held people at gunpoint. They were grossly overcharged, put on blast in the media, are suspended from their football team for what may be a game, multiple games, or the season, each paying up to a non-refundable 10k in bail and lawyer retention that wasn't necessary had the charges been correct to begin with, paying fines and serving community service and you say they're not being punished??? Come on, Derek, what would like to see for punishment?? I hope you don't have kids. I'm worried if they ever make a mistake in life they'll never see the light of day again.

Hilarious, I knew from day one Montana would figure out a way to get these guys back on the field pronto. Some much for the pitchforks, eh? UM spokesman already told the press that the suspensions are being "reevaluated."

Someone could write a book about the kind of nonsense that goes on in Missoula...

Oh wait. Someone already did.

http://www.amazon.com/Missoula-Rape-Justice-System-College/dp/0385538731" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Prior to this year, I generally fell into the "few bad apples..." line of thinking. However, Montana seems to consistently prove they deserve the press they've gotten.

And for the Montana peeps who think this is SOP everywhere, it isn't. We had a player B&E right before the playoffs. He was promptly kicked off the team. Not suspended. Kicked off. He was a starting safety, coincidentally, no some guy who never saw the field.

Suggesting only a one game suspension against the worst team in the Big Sky is downplaying. Patrolling around saying "they just made a mistake!" is also downplaying.

And yes. It should be worse after you know the facts.

"Suggesting a one game suspension....." Man there you go again crazy train. You can't help yourself obviously. I didn't suggest anything as I don't hand out the punishment. I said that I'm guessing it will be a one game suspension and I'm OK with that based on all of the facts from the case. I am basing this on the U of M student code of conduct that classifies punishment for a misdemeanor. It suggests punishment be 10% of team activity so that is why I'm guessing a one game suspension will be where they land. And playing at Idaho State has nothing to do with when they serve the suspension. They obviously will serve it on the next game it is nobody's fault that happens to be the next game.

Tell me, high and mighty one, what the consequences should be in your eyes? What should be the punishment for first-time offenders for a misdemeanor trespass where even the state of Montana gives them a fine and some community service? I know one thing is for certain. Take this exact scenario and plug it into Cheney. Now plug in the names Kupp, West, and Wilson. If they did the exact same thing you are saying they should have more than a one game suspension? I can't stand the Eagles and even I'd say a one game suspension is fair.
