Montana embarrasses the Big Sky again. (Again).

I don't know what the punishment is yet as far as missing games, but based on the actual charges of criminal trespassing, one game probably suits the crime. The issue the Griz are dealing with is that they have had way too many problems the past couple of years, some justified, some not, so the new coach may need to set a precedent here....although I see a one game suspension coming and that's it...

Missoula seems to have a major problem between their legal system and the Griz football team. Heck, Kirsten Pabst, A griz season ticket holder, worked at the County Attorneys office and decided not to charge JJ a few years ago, then decides to leave the office (I believe) and becomes his defense counsel against the County Attorney's office. Now she is back working on the other side as the County Attorney and it was their office who reduced the charges. Eventhough I think they made the right call, it just looks like a cluster over there.

In my opinion if me and 3 of my buddies entered a property where a family lived, climbed a ladder to get there and went through a window and stole beer, regardless if we thought it was empty or not, we probably wouldn't have been blasted all over the newspapers like the griz players were, but we probably would have ended up with more than just trespassing charges as well...

How many run-ins with the law must there be at Montana before the most basic punishment is handed down? Among others, you've got players punching and being tasered by officers (Kemp and Johnson), drunk drivers (Harris), a rapist (Donaldson), fighters (Kose, Gamboa), thieves (Badger, Parks), vandals (Hermanson). Now these three. If I could, I'd 86 them from the team immediately. Assuming they knew the legal spotlight Grizzly football is under, their inability to stay away from anything even resembling trouble would be enough for me.

There is some history at Eastern that points to expulsion as an option. In the two incidents I can think of, Eastern players were kicked off the team. Mixon for fighting, and Gayton for being an idiot. Good luck, God bless, get out.

As for Kupp, West, and Wilson. If the tables were turned, and Eastern were Montana, I'd say see you later as well. I'd keep making examples of people until the culture stuck, or I was fired

You certainly are defensive. Long drawn out posts with no sustenance and only insults. At least a 3-4 game suspension. Enough to get the message across to the other Griz players stupid enough to "make mistakes" (criminally trespass/not show up to court dates/ rape women/ drive drunk/ beat people up.)

I would ask exactly the same of Kupp, Wilson, or West ESPECIALLY if our program was under a microscope and had a reputation of trouble with the law. But it's a good thing the players you listed are upstanding citizens, leaders, and role models for the community.

Thank you for your thoughtful, respectful, and level-headed feedback Marceag. I agree with everything you said. I still think, however, that even you and your buddies in that scenario would have gotten the same misdemeanor trespass charge. But that is just my opinion.

Thank you for your feedback 93bird. You make some valid points. Griz need to get things cleaned up. I'd say Delaney did a good job of that in his 3 years (minus hermanson fighting a street sign). I think Still will continue that trend. I think kids will be held accountablecwith him and gust the punishment will fit the crime. We saw that with Gamboa already.

Derek, I'm only defensive when someone takes what I say and twists and shapes them to his/her agenda. For that, yes I will defend myself. Thanks for your feedback. I respect your opinion that 3-4 games is what you'd like to see. I just disagree with it is all. I think that is excessive. But that's just my opinion just as you have yours. Peace out.

A quality griz football team on and off the field is good for the Big Sky and good for Eastern so I think the majority of us hope the Griz are moving in the right direction on and off the field.

I think Delaney did do a good job of cleaning things up for the most part. For that, he was very good for Montana football. I think what most people on here are saying is that there is a culture of players getting in trouble at Montana. And it's quite a few players, not a guy here or there every other year or so. It's every year. Those are the facts, and it doesn't help the perception of the program at all when it continues to be the norm there. I think making a strong statement in these sort of instances would help the perception of Montana football and probably also make kids think once or twice before doing something potentially stupid.

I for one am so sick and tired of hearing about these college athletes and any college age person for that matter being told it's not big deal to be a moron! This kind of crap should not be tolerated at any program, especially one under a microscope.

I constantly hear, "oh they're just dumb kids makin dumb choices." Sorry, they're not "kids" they're young men on a scholarship to play a man's game and gain an education. Any 15 year old kid knows that entering someone else's property is illegal, so a 20 something year old man should damn well know too!

These "kids" need to be held to an even higher standard than just a regular college student. They need to start acting like the damn role models they should be and be greatful for the opportunity their communities are creating for them! Learn to be a leader and put your team and community ahead of your own selfish needs.

Rant over.

My fellow Red Zone members that are overreacting and sticking their nose where it is not asked are an embarrassment to Eagle fans everywhere.
Move on!

I appreciate the shout out. I figured the second I heard about this and that impactful players were involved that there'd be no way on Earth they'd be out more than a single game. I was 100% on it when I heard Stitt wasn't commenting on it; had he decided he was going to part ways, he'd have just said then that they're off the team. You knew when he declined to comment that was code for "we're going to make sure they are back on the sidelines as soon as possible."

In truth. It doesn't really matter to me. Montana is a Mia San Mia type of program. They're going to do what they want to do regardless of how it looks.

The only thing I care about as it relates to Big Sky football this weekend is how Eastern plays against NAU. That gives me enough to worry about. The ethics of the Grizzly program is just fluff.
