New Coaching Candidates

For y'all to come on here and shout "Fire Collins!" Just minutes after THAT effort from the kids and coaches just proves that this is a personal vendetta of yours, nothing from a logical or school pride point of view. You want him gone? Fine, everyone has opinions. But to come on here immediately after the squad went toe-to-toe with the 5th best team in the country for 59 minutes when there were multiple points in the affair when they could have packed it in (14-0, 27-14)--especially for a team who has nothing tangible to play for this season--and your first post is something about a guy's job status instead of commending a great performance from kids who rep the school? It says a lot about the mental make-up of some of you who post here.

It was a decent effort. But a loss is a loss man. Sorry

It was a great effort by the kids but it unfortunately does not take away from the fact that the Collins Staff is simply not the best staff (or even the half best staff) for UNC. I will even go so far as to say and give credit that it was by far the greatest effort for Collins and his staff BUT even a broken clock is right twice a day!

The most consistent and prevailing results of 3 years unequivocally point to the fact that this staff should be gone after this season. In an ideal world of having an AD in place and the budget to support it, I would be surprised if the decision wasn't already made and announced so that the replacement process could get underway! Can't fault living in a dream world but unfortunately we will be in the same place next November saying the same thing..."Good Moral Victory" :ohno:

It was a great effort by the kids and coaches. If we saw that kind of effort each and every week the results would be different. But, we don't. The team shows up one time a year....that's not acceptable. Time to move on and let Collins take a special teams position at some mid major school.

We are suppose to measure success now by effort? I don't care how much effort coaches or players show, this is only about wins and losses, and the Bears have a lot of losses since joining the Big Sky.

15-72 since 2006.

Collins is 6-25, on track to finish 6-28. He has to go!

Big Sky Conference Effort Champions 2013!

Good enough for me, we better build a really big trophy case for all the participation ribons!

Good article about Collins the man in the Trib today. Makes you want to keep him around.

Haven't seen the article yet and with all due respect to Collins the "man", the concern is more with Collins the "coach"! There are a lot of good men out there who either cannot or just simply are not the right fit to be "The Coach"...Three (3) plus years of evidence is showing that perhaps Ernest is a closer example of the latter...

With all due respect why do you care if Collins stays or goes? Why does your kid? He'll graduate and most likely not care (like most former players) what happens to UNC afterword he gets that tassel.

Lol I like quote of Collins is a winner. Mustari you are hilarious. But I guess he is just doing his job.

I can't take any of Mustari's articles regarding UNC athletics serious anymore. Anything he has written about the football program in the past 6 weeks has been so far out in left field. How he can continue to write about why Collins deserves to keep his job is unbeliveable. Mustari has no clue....

Beardown, you are correct, a bad experience will tend to do that to anyone at any school. But that is in fact why I care! A person should be full of pride as an alumni of their University. It leads to future support both financially, as a recruitment resource and as a supporter of the program. How will this program ever get off the ground if it continues to produce unproud alumnus? Don't you think its time to stop the bleeding?

Sure, but let me ask you a question. When did Collins lose the locker room? When did the players not support and want to play for him? You should know because your son plays for him.

Somebody should just call Jed Stugart at Univ of Sioux Falls. He is stealing all the Colorado players and taking them to Sioux Falls, SD. The guy has never had a losing season as a head coach and he can sing!

Just a thought from an old guy

Great suggestion. Anything but collins at this point his overall record is 14-39 overall and never had a winning season as a coach.

I normally try to be positive and try to see the good things in the program, but after watching this last loss to Cal Poly I just can't seem to feel that anything could be done to turn around this program with the current coaches. There just doesn't seem to be any chemistry between the players and coaches. I was never happy with the decision to bench Orms a couple of years back, but I could understand how coach Collins felt that the future of the program would revolve around Lobato. He didn't seem to see how important a team leader is to the team and how to choose players that have a positive affect on the chemistry of the team. He got some very good players these last couple of years, but they never seem to have been able to work together.
I know that coach Collins will have one more year under his current contract and we can't afford get a new coach for this next season, but I hope he can find out how to fix this thing. If not, he should be history along with this whole staff.
