Program Deserves Big Crowds

It's not the money and trip, I would do it without that stuff, it just pisses me off that Dave sits there and says "Oh take his scholarship away..." like I'm only doing it for the scholarship. Average attendance is up this year from last...hmmm...well I must be a huge disappointment. Let's get Dave back in there.

Would I be out of line to contact Jerry Bovee and discuss different ideas I have to increase attendance? Honestly, there are SO MANY things WSU could do that wouldn't cost them ANY extra money.
I have heard in the past that other fan board and Wildcat Club members have approached the athletic department with good ideas and were just told to basically piss off.
So what can I do? I'm sick of the attitude up there but instead of pointing fingers I am dying to help fix the problems. SO WHAT CAN I DO?

We met with Jerry, Norm, Brad, Becky, Purplepak, and marketing department about a lot of this stuff last year or the year before, I might still have my notes that I took to the meeting, but here where we discussed it previously: http://www.bigskyfans.com/wildcats/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=69&hilit=meeting

Maybe with the new AD we should try and set up a new meeting, set up a committee of purple bleeding fanatics...

There is no resaon why Weber should not have a big crowd tonight, BYU,Utah,Utah St, UVU,SUU and the Jazz DO NOT PLAY TODAY

Ah bull sh*t, we don't need to learn anything from those bastards up North. They might want to learn how to win on the road from us though. F the Aggies, I do think they will make a strong run in the Cbi though.

VERYpredictable Weberski, you are such a little ball of hate but at least you are consistent.
As for you AJ, how in the hell can you even post still? I assumed you were no more. You better watch your back.

Are we going to take down the Vikings or what. Hell ya son of a bit@#. I hope the team got juiced up on souvlaki this afternoon over at U B.

Go Wildcats

Now bigpappa, why all the name calling. Now you've just hurt my feelings. Why? And please Do not refer to me as Dave. It's Bengalhater! Who's Dave anyway? LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL! Don't let your feelings get hurt dude. You know I love ya, brother! :ugeek:

I bet the Athletic Department gurus are all patting themselves on the backs and congratulating themselves on how they got over 5K to two consecutive games this week. And yes, I agree its worth a bit of excitment, but if they are content with those numbers thats just another sign of the mediocrity that has afflicted the university over the past decade. I don't know about all the rest of the posters on this forum or the fans of the Cats, but I don't like seeing any empty seats. I dont think the powers that be, should ever be content with having the highest attendance average in the Sky, but should shoot for the state. There are 12K seats, then there should be 12K butts in those seats.

For the UNC game they should sell tkts for $2 and $1 for fans that paid for the NAU game the night before. If Weber happens to go undefeated over the next couple of weeks those games will be HUGE!

I think it's a very great idea to do a big promotion for the UNC game. I love the idea of the family pass, but I love even more the idea of $1 tickets. This idea is brillant! If you get 5-6 more thousand fans there because of one dollar, that's at least 5-6 thousand dollars and a huge crowd. I think that this is ideal and some needs to take hold of this idea. Why not invite people for a buck? Out of those 5-6 thousand fans, heck who knows maybe half come back and half buy season tickets for next year. Even from merchandise and food, revenue will go up. I say let's get the marketing department to do this.

$1 tkts would be great, but you still have to get the word out and I don't know if the department could handle such a difficult task.

Revenue will go up but WSU doesn't get anything for the food. One of the more facinating things I learned at the meeting with the WSU meeting was the contract WSU has with Carter's is a pre-determined amount and WSU doesn't make anything extra if more food is sold. The athletics tried to get their food contract seperate from the rest of the WSU deal but Carters said everything or nothing. That is why the Ogden Raptors can give tickets away cheap or free, they make their money on the concessions.

The food service contract is currently through Sodexo food services

Sad but very true, there is NO reason they shouldn't draw 8k per game easily. With this population base there is NO excuse to settle for 5k and be happy about it.

So do they have the same kind of contract that they did with Carters?

I like the idea of cheap tickets, but do something additional to this.
When people come to buy their $1 or $2 ticket, require them to fill out an application form which would consist of 5 questions:
1. name
2. Address
3. e-mail address
4. cell phone #
5. How often they attend WSU athletic events

From these forms, you could generate a database of people to market to (e.g., casual fans who are interested but may need a bit of an incentive to attend).
You could later send e-mail messages, text messages reminding them of upcoming games and events.
Send them order forms for season tickets, promotions, etc.
E-mail and texting are basically free - it would be a very easy thing to do and could be updated and added to with future events.

At the game, you could also have people fill out the same form for a drawing for t-shirts, tickets for future games, etc.
This is low-lying fruit here that could be used rather easily and without much time, effort, or expense involved.

Great ideas Waldo! I really hope that someone in the athletic departments reads this thread. I have noticed that before games, many people are stuck in lines at the ticket office. If the ticket office staff had a few people going person to person and selling tickets to people with cash, the flow would be better. These people can also do the list of questions as well. Booths around the corridor would also be good to get info.
