Give us 18 more scholarships and a stadium and let's see what we can do. We need corporate sponsorship of the stadium overhaul. "Northern Quest Stadium" sounds pretty good about right now.
NORTHERN QUEST STADIUM sounds amazing right now. I think it's a brilliant idea and I HOPE Chaves and our President are looking into it. It's a perfect fit if you ask me. Think about it: 1)Proximity = check.Seattle Eagle said:Give us 18 more scholarships and a stadium and let's see what we can do. We need corporate sponsorship of the stadium overhaul. Until there is a commitment from a LARGE donor, there is not much to announce.EWUSigep447 said:Honestly, chevez's account on LinkedIn said that they planned to break ground for the 2014 season, so I expected them to announce when we had all of the national coverage from "College Starts Here" deal. Since that game, however, his account has changed the date to 2016. Yesterday would have been a good time to make the announcement if it were to happen anytime soon.

She originally said she wanted to pool together public and private monies to improve EWU. At the investiture, she said she was well underway working with business partners in the Cheney and Spokane communities to bring in fundraising dollars for the football stadium “Gateway Project,” and for a new “living building” on campus."

A large part of what a University president does is fundraising. Hopefully this project will be a top priority for Dr. Cullinan.

There seem to be two main factors at play with the stadium problem. Reading through this thread, it's apparent that many people believe that the primary concern with the stadium is that we cannot adequately accommodate our current crowds. That is an issue, but it by far not the one. If it were, it's one that could be remedied with relatively minimal investment by adding cheap seating that would expand the overall capacity of the stadium. To be frank, that would be the equivalent of replacing one eyesore with another. I think the folks at EWU are smarter than that. As I see it, the most compelling argument for stadium renovation is that the current facility is not on par with our peer institutions, and as such, does not fall in line with or support the President's Vision Statement for the University. You cannot be a leader amongst regional comprehensive universities in the west when your athletic facilities, primarily the football stadium, are so far behind your peers. It's as simple as that. When that truth is so self evident, I don't see how they have any other choice but to take some sort of action to remedy the situation.
It is my understanding the state only builds classrooms and dorms. A new stadium does not fill that criteria.EagInTexas said:eaglemachine said:"Cullinan also marked progress on what she told The Easterner back in June 2014 during her unofficial, summer welcome speech. We need lots of help from the private sector.
