Shill? Please. I’ve questioned these guys you so vehemently hate, I just don’t let a biased view distract from the fact that progress and accomplishments have been made while both of those guys have been here. It’s obvious you don’t want to acknowledge that and that’s your prerogative. As far as being informed, I’m as informed as the numbers allow me to be.OldSchoolHornet said:Just when I was starting to think you were a Wanless shill, it turns out you're just another guy who doesn't know what he doesn't know. I'm sure eventually someone will get you up to speed. Until then, enjoy your blissful ignorance and keep working hard at pretending you actually have an informed opinion.
Feel free to have the last word.
Have yet to see any post stating when his contract is up. Safe to say we are stuck with him until then.GoldenEagleHornet said:So what I'm getting is, no matter what we are stuck with Marshall for at least another season.

Can’t be too surprised, Wanless pulled the same move with Katz.Kadeezy said:Wow... An extension?!
Good pointThe Green Hornet said:I don't think it's all about wins and losses regarding the Administration keeping Sperbeck and, for that matter, Katz. I think one of the big reasons these two coaches are getting the benefit of the doubt is because they've successfully kept the Academic Progress Rates and Graduation Success Rates up and thus, Sac State out of being embarrassed again in the media for low academic scores by its student-athletes, which occurred before they got hired. Since Sac State isn't a sports mecca and a winning tradition has never been established, there isn't alumni/community pressure to field top tier teams, therefore, the Admin can live with .500 teams; that's what I think.
Good points. My theory on the Katz extension is Wanless just doesn't want to bother finding a new coach until the event center is up. If all stays on schedule, Katz gets 2 seasons in the new digs as a kick back/reward for getting the off the court issues together (regardless of the high roster turnover and poor on the court product) and maybe another extension if he can utilize the new facilities to bring in better recruits and get this program competitive with the top of the BSC.The Green Hornet said:I don't think it's all about wins and losses regarding the Administration keeping Sperbeck and, for that matter, Katz. Good points. The talent has been there, the coaching has not.mark dyba said:First, the head coach has had plenty of time to turn the program around.
He came into the program and began firing assistant coaches, forgetting that the new guy may help or hurt the program. There has been quite a turn over in assistant coaches. Is the head coach a hard guy to work with?
I think his contract is up for renewal this year.
As for a replacement, go with a guy with a winning record as a head coach. Has anyone looked at the record of the head coach a Carroll college. He has won more national title and conference titles then anyone I know of. Also the guy at Southern Oregon done a great job there.
Look only for head coaches that have been winners at four year schools and forget the rest.
Our talent level has been among the best in the conference.
