UNC vs. Chadron State

I think we'll lose this game too. Woodhead is going to run all over us. If our defense is as bad as it was last year, then chalk up an 0-2 start.

Chadron State will not repeat their performance of last year. They are going to come in here thinking that they are the "Cock of the Walk" ( RMAC Champions) and UNC is going to feel like they have something to prove. I see a long day in store for the Eagles. If, for some reason UNC should lose, I see Coach Downing asking his wife, " Honey...what's the number for Allied Van Lines?" To which his wife will reply, " Don't worry, the school already called!"

No kidding, I dont expect miricles from Coach Downing, but if he cant scrap together a win aginst a team from our old division we should have him tared and feathered.

Sorry to say this fellas, but Chardon is a much better team then UNC. We're pathetic and probably would have been maybe 3rd in the RMAC. This of course based on last years team. Face it. Mark my words. We'll be 0-2.

There should never be a time, even as down as we were last year, that we should ever expect to lose to an RMAC team.

I'd expect us to beat Chadron by a couple touchdowns.

I just can't believe that Chadron will come into Nottingham and beat us. Tell you what, if that happens I will still buy the $6 beers but will just poor them out on the ground for the rest of the season. What do you think Ursa?

You guys are at a different level now. Chadron State may have gotten away with it once but again? Once you go up you don't go back to the old level of play. I think you guys will kick in the fact that they are the smaller team and school now, the football team needs to go out there and make Chadron State feel like that, get after then quickly.

Isn't Chadron the same team that beat MSU?

Pour them on the ground? Let's not get hasty! We will drink our beer with pride wondering the whole time how we can sneak beer into games the rest of the season. I figure if we get caught, all they would do would be to kick us out and what would we miss? More bad football? We'll just sit in the parking lot on the east side of the Tennis courts and listen to the games on the radio. Negro Modelo is only $11.99/12 pack which is still a deal over the $6 choice. If by chance UNC should come back in a game, it's only a short stumble to Nottingham to watch the finish. You gotta have a plan son...you gotta have a plan.

we are a d2 school. Our budget, fan support and most of our facilities are still in D2. Sorry, but I'm being realistic.

I'm not against a beer discount, I just don't think that I can get the administration behind the idea. One would think that they would realize if they lowered the price of beer on a points scored against us basis, our drunken state would make us forget we suck. There by bringing us back the next game to go through the whole thing all over again. By the end of the season, we could be sitting at 1-10 again, and no one would know. Theoretically,if the administration approached this correctly, we could stay hungover until halfway through the basketball season. Then we would awaken in time to realize that we are 2-17 in basketball and we would band together to try and get the AD fired and....Hey, are those beers only a buck?

I disagree, have you been on campus at Mines or Adams State for example?

DII isn't what the old NCC was, it's what the RMAC is. The old NCC is now mostly D-I.

Those that stayed behind that are comperable to us (UNO for example) are very much the rare exception and not the rule. Also, the NCC schools that stayed behind have D-I hockey (St. Cloud, Mankato, UNO) so I wouldn't classify them as typical DII. Typical DII is Ft. Lewis, NM Highlands, Panhandle State, etc. The cream of the crop numbers about a half dozen (Central Missouri, West Texas A&M, UNO, NW Missouri, and a few others).

The remaining posts kinda veered off topic, so I made them into a new topic in the 'UNC Athletics' fourm called 'UNC and Greeley/Alums'

Couple of things, first Chadron State is not your basic RMAC team, they dominated that conference, won 7 games on the road last year including at Montana State the week after MSU dumped CU. I was at that game, and it was never close.

Second, Chadron State returns 19 players with starting experience, including soon to be NCAA all division rushing record holder, Danny Woodhead. Kramer will tell you he was the best running back MSU faced last year.

They will not come in to Nottingham thinking the game is in the bag, they know they are playing up a division, and they will be ready to play.

Will the Bears be ready after the long trip to and from Hawaii? That is the question.

They probably won't be ready unfortunatly.

However, Chadron did have a good year last year and won the RMAC but did get beat in the playoffs in the first round. So to consider them anything other than the best team in the RMAC is a stretch in my opinion. If they were elite in DII they would have done some damage in the post season.

No, they had a first round bye, beat the tar out of West Texas A&M in the second round, and lost at Northwest Missouri 28-21 in the quarterfinals. They ended up ranked anywhere from 3rd to 5th in the final D-II polls. I suspect they will enter the season in 2007 in the same range.

They have a good first game challenge at Washburn, then play Wayne St. Nebraska at Chadron the second week, then travel to Greeley.

I see it as a very tough game for both sides. Will be Chadron's third game.

Long drive for me, but plan on making the home opener. Perhaps a pre-game get together would be fun?

I tailgated the home opener last year, and plan to do the same this year. I will throw up some detials as it gets closer.
