Weber State Recruiting

2010 signee 6'10" Kyle Tresnak from AZ finished regular season with 29 points, 11 Boards and 2 Blocks (110 total this season), His team, Horizon, starts state tournament play at 4th seed in their conference, with a 6 game win streak.

Tresnak's stats for the year:
16.1 PPG, 59.2 FG%, 9.8 RPG, 4.4 BPG

Richardson's stats for the year:
21.0 PPG, 2.6 APG, 1.7 RPG, 0.9 SPG

Hajek's stats for the year:
13.2 PPG, 9.6 RPG, 2.3 BPG

What a great way to end the season!! Congrats to Tresnak, and good luck in the state tournament.

By the by, Heyoh22 what are the chances of Collin Woods coming to Weber?

Not sure on Woods. He has offers from WSU and Colo State, and is getting some Pac-10 interest from 3 schools. I would think summer will be the decision time

Says he's considering WSU, haven't even heard of this guy. A 90? Nice.

As far as comparing ratings, Collinsworth (who the SL media has been hyping for some 2-3 years now) from Provo High and Byu bound, a 6'6" wing player, is the highest rated in the State, at an 88.

I understood that Jon loyd had off the field issues. He might be a better defensive back for football, then basketball. Weber Looked at him and about five other point guards during the summer and decided that Jason Richardson was a better player behind lillard.. Playmakers are tough to find and MONTANA'S CHERRY's a great example of a guard who can drive but suspect outside shot. Some of the guards are great outside shooters others are playmakers that can't shoot outside, some can only drive to the hoop, it's hard to find players that can do all three... Thats why Richardson is a Wildcat..

James Hajek of Skutt High (Omaha Neb.) is gonna be a Wildcat... He is a 6-9 240 player. Most likely will red-shirt, but definitely a diamond in the rough. Thats it for this year...

On to 2011!!! Right now, I'm thinking Weber will get three next November:

Jordan Baker SG/SF
Collin Woods PG/SG
Jonathan Holmes PF
(I'd love TJ Taylor too) PG

That would be the absolute best class in decades.

what a great recruiting class, Jordan Richardson has scored 46 and 40 pts this year, 6'10" 235 Kyle Tresnek all year long has been a monster in Arizona, had lots of coaches question if they made a mistake..and now 6'9'' 240 James Hajek played in a great league with 5 centers 7'0- 6'9 and bested them... only question is 6'2" guard Bamforth will his elbow come around or will BJ Poter take hansens spot... I like this class, anyway leaving this morning to come to Utah for playoffs ... go Wildcats...

BJ Porter has one of the sweetest left hand shots I've seen. Seems like a pure shooter with a nice touch from behind the Arc and a nice mid range jumper. With the additions of Bamforth, Porter, and Coro I'm hoping we won't have the slow start like we did this year, and could be one of the better shooting teams Weber has had.

you can take Holmes 6'6'' OFF LIST, he has visited SMU three times already and is about to verbal to them...recruiting is about timing, and it's sad that were so loaded, I'm laughing that i just said this, anyway, normally we would be recruiting Juco's from SLCC 6'8" Jenson. 6'7'' MAYHEW 6'8" Highland Idaho HS missionary post, or 6'9'' Thomson eastern utah, But ,....were done, and Looooooaded... so go wildcats...

It is a good position, having the commitments and some signings already done. Lets the coaches work on NIT plan and spring/summer workouts.
The Tournament loss still hurts, but let's do well in NIT and jump-start next year with the new players.

Yeah, Holmes was iffy because of SMU. Its close to his home, and he's known the coaches and players longer. Also, even though he is a really good player with excellent stats, Weber has 6-7 Byron Fulton who is a very similar player, but has more of an outside/peremeter game, and is a lot longer player.

Its nice knowing that Weber will have three Freshman Bigs next fall.

Real fast...Sol Jensen originially signed with Weber prior to his mission (Cravens), but chose to attend UVU instead of Weber after returning. I think it had to do with who would give him a scholarship. I'm sure Rahe said he could walk on and go from there. Now, I'm thinking he'll end up at a DII or NAIA school.

The Highland duder was recruited and offered by Weber, but he turned them down flat. I bet he is thinking that was a pretty dumb move on his part now, but he still has another year at SLCC so who knows.

Mayhew is a soph and would automatically be given a preferred walk-on at Weber because of his father's legacy here. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in Ogden. He still has his redshirt, at least that is the impression that I got. It would be good for him and Weber if he did come here. Deeper bench, another big to practice against, and for him a chance to improve his game and to build the Mayhew legacy. He was recruited by the Cat out of high school, but wasn't offered. If you want more info on him, send SLCC coach Parish an email inquiring about Mayhew's next move. He had a decent year in Salt Lake, but nothing that would get him a DI scholie. As a legacy, I'm hope great things happen for him, and I'd love to see another Mayhew in a Weber uniform.

Thompson committed to Weber out of high school, but had a really hard time going to class and working hard his senior season. He ended up decommitting and getting on at Eastern. I'm pretty sure Rahe washed his hands of the kid. He has a lot of potential, but is a primadona type or at least he was. He might have matured down south.

Rahe always has a couple RM's and local kids on the team for practice purposes. Cody Larson is an example of a local kid that walked on, has practiced really hard, and ended up getting rewarded with some playing time.

WILL SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHY WEBER ISN'T GOING AFTER MICHAEL PEREZ?

He is totally legit!! He scored 806 points this year (29.5 average). He averaged 3.5 assists, 3 steals, 8.5 rebounds and .7 blocks a game to go along with those 806 points. He was the Arizona 4A player of the year and he is headed to a JC? WTF? How on earth is this happening?

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not questioning coach Rahe, and his recruiting, but seriously when i watch video of this kid I can't help but get excited seeing him in purple and white. He is an electric player and would be a great addition for the wildcats. I'm pretty sure that 4A is still a pretty damn good level of basketball.

Wil Carter from SLCC via Highland HS in Idaho, is done at SLCC. He was a soph this year. Idaho State may be a good fit. How sure are you guys about Hajek being a done deal? He took a trip to Creighton after he supposedly verballed to the Wildcats.

In other news. Justin Hamilton, 6'11" 260, starting C for the Iowa State Cyclones, is transferring to be closer to home. Hamilton played at Lone Peak HS and was offered by you out of HS.

Wow, I'm glad you caught that about Carter. D'uh, on my part. I'm sure he will end up at ISU or a DII/NAIA.

Hajek, I'm guessing, isn't getting a full offer from Weber. So he might pull a Kreamer ( a kid that verballed in the spring 0f 07, but ended up going to Nevada, because they gave him a scholie) and go where he can get more money. Also, Creighton is close to home for him. However, I'm 90% sure that Hajek will be coming to Weber.

Knowing how things go, I bet Hamilton is headed to BYU. For some reason they have an endless supply of scholarships (maybe the NCAA should give them a little look and do an audit). If not the only school he was highly considering in Utah was Weber. At least that is what I can remember.

This is purely theory, Hamilton and Rahe were pretty close and it was a huge loss for the Cats when he signed with Iowa State. Anyway, Hajek might be visiting other schools because he is hearing that Hamilton is coming home and will be enrolling at Weber. No matter, Hamilton will be a JR the year after Morris and Washington have left, and with Holmes most likely going elsewhere (SMU) Hajek could still earn a full scholie after redshirting this year. Theory...

Getting Hamilton would be HUGE!! Especially since Morris will be a SR next year. Three 6-9/10+ kids would be awesome. I'm sure that would be a definite deal maker for some of the guards Weber is trying to get (Woods, Baker, and Taylor).
