Weber State Recruiting

I'm not. I don't think he would leave for that job. We average twice as many fans, and the pay desparity hopefully isn't as big with the Cravens monies no longer tied up.

Hajek would a have full scholarship after his redshirt year. He was bumped up a year in school so he is really young, and as he matures could be a force. I believe as well he will be coming to Weber.

Brackins headed to NBA, two others transfer

“I just feel the need to be at a school closer to home where my family will have a better opportunity to watch me play,” said in Hamilton in a press release. “I appreciate everything coach McDermott and the coaching staff has done for me.”

Hamilton improved for the Cyclones in his sophomore season, tallying an average of 7.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. He expressed an interest to play closer to home as his reason for leaving the team. The starting center for McDermott's 2009–'10 squad, Hamilton is an Alpine, Utah, native and was granted his request for release Friday.

Basketball: Former Lone Peak star Justin Hamilton is transferring from ISU

Remember Justin Hamilton?
He’s the former Lone Peak High basketball star who left the Beehive State to play his college basketball in the Big 12 -- at Iowa State.
Well, Hamilton might be coming back to a school near you.
According to the Des Moines Register, Hamilton announced to ISU coach Greg McDermott on Thursday that he plans to transfer out of the Ames, Iowa, school.
Hamilton did not say which school hs is transferrring to, but noted that he wants to play closer to home, which is Alpine, Utah.
A 6-11 post player, Hamilton started in 31 games for the Cyclones, averaging 6.4 points and 5.4 rebounds a game.
“He really hadn’t indicated in any way that there were any problems,” McDermott told the newspaper. “He wants his family to see him play in person. As a parent happy that his son stayed within 90 miles from home — I guess I can’t fault him for that decision.”
The newspaper reported that Iowa State generally allows players to transfer to schools not on future schedules without penalty.

Schools that offered: Iowa St, Pepperdine, UC Davis, Weber State

Utah is also on the list but didn't offer. USU must not have been interested.

I don't think Hamilton is LDS, so that may have an influence as to whether he goes to BYU. Also, I've seen him play a couple of times on TV, and it didn't appear to me that he has the game to play well in BYU's transition offense. If he does go to BYU, with them having the big Collinsworth coming back from a mission for next year, then the bigs Harward and Austin the next, he may not get much playing time. And, in general, no post player develops in the Rose system at BYU. They seem to come in highly rated, don't get many touches, and stagnate. However, Utah Valley kids seem to make some strange decisions when it comes to deciding things like that. IMO he'd be a very good post player in the Big Sky in Rahe's system, and that appears to be the missing part of your team. If you guys had a player like that, you'd really dominate the conference, and Rahe would then be able to run what he really wants to. Speculation on my part though. We(the Ags) didn't recruit Hamilton out of HS, and don't know if there's any interest there now. The 7 footer who was sitting out this year for us has some serious legal problems, and may not be back, so that may change things.

I hope Rahe stays in Ogden, for your sake, but if Boise State does offer him the job, it would be hard to turn down.

Re: Hamilton, Interesting. Di Loreto is a 7 footer?

The Boise job is crap, the gap in pay will be dwindling with the impending extension. Rahe leave for Boise where they average 3,000 fans a game and play 2nd fiddle, just to start over again? I doubt it.

I highly doubt that Hamilton would go to Utah or BYU. As George (sorry about last night...yikes) pointed out he wouldn't get a lot of playing time, and that there are three bigs coming back from missions and a couple who will still be on the roster when he get the green light to play again. Utah, is even worse. They definitely don't have any room. USU...hmmm...that could be a wildcard, but I'm thinking the issues with Di Loreto will work out. However, USU will need an experienced center in a year after Wesley and Bendall both graduate. SO.....

Anyway, and I don't know why any player who could really make a huge difference and play in the NCAA would even venture there, but UVSC is an option.

Hamilton teaming up with Tresnak, Hajek, Fulton, and Mahoney WOW! Good guards and good bigs. WEBER would be dominant in the Sky and would even contend annually for the Bucket (instate supremacy).

I think its also significant to look at the schools he officially visited.

Now the kid we recruited that went to Nebraska is coming home 6'3" Gallegos. From Jordan Utah .. transfering out of Nebraska... Maybe to SLCC or Snow? Walk on at Weber State maybe...

I think we make room for Gallegos if he's interested. He was graded as an 88 by ESPN in October of '08 and highly recruited by Cal,CSU,SDSU,USU, and Weber, and I think it was narrowed down to just Weber and Nebraska as his last two choices. I think he saw about 15-20 minutes a game for Nebraska this season. Does anyone remember for sure if it was between Nebraska and Weber as his last two choices, before he committed to the Huskers?

I'm excited now that James Hajek 6'9 245 Lbs will sign with Weber State April 14th.. with 6'10" power forward Kyle Tresnak 235 lbs and Morris 6'9'' 240 Lbs and Mahoney 6'8" 235 Lbs and Fulton 6'7" 225 gives us great post players and depth..... 6'0" Jason Richardson 6'1" Lillard, 6'3" Lindsey 6'2" Bamford. 6'3" Porter 6'5'' Blake Davis, along with ( one more recruit ? ) gives us thirteen ... along with walk-ons.... very athletic team, I don't expect Sessions, Noble, Maybe even Washington to be back... Coach Rahe is looking for a wing shooter...

It is what it is....

Cal may be Weber's most dangerous opponent going after Woods. According to a coach (no names), Weber is one of his top schools. However, Wood's stock is going to explode this summer. Its a good thing Weber has a long history with Woods, his family, and friends, having Tresnak at Weber helps a lot since the two are close and teammates.

Jordan Baker is in the same situation. Weber might have gotten lucky when Baker broke his hand and the Cats offered him a scholarship. No matter, his stock is also going to explode during the summer.

TJ Taylor...The only way Weber gets this kid, is if Lillard can talk him into coming. The two are really close from what I've heard.

Oh, I'm about 65% sure that Gallegos is transfering to Weber. His top two schools were WEBER and Nebraska.

According to Rahe, Weber wants to get bigger. I wouldn't doubt seeing him go after 6-5/6-6 wings and bigger 2's.

If USU lands both A Bumpus and S Rogers I don't think they will be able to offer Steven Thornton out of Valencia, CA who they are recruiting hard as well. This is the type of wing we need and should go after 6'5", and plays much bigger. I don't know who else if anyone is looking at him besides USU, GeorgeHayDuke do you know?
