2016/17 schedule

Western Governors College. - Virtual school, Virtual team. Our players sit in the middle of the court with laptops and play against a team made up of the virtual images of all the Governors. It could be projected on the scoreboard screen. It would be as interesting as Multiplemouth, on last years home schedule. :yikes: :wtf: :wall:

In an effort to help fill our home schedule I have looked up a number of schools who could come to the Dee and really help fill up the stands. I figure we need, three, maybe four, beats to visit the Dee. Goodness, just imagine watching some of the below teams in HD on KJZZ!!

These are some of the best that NAIA has to offer:

Freed-Hardeman University (Ron would really have to hand out a lot of cup cakes for this match up)
Graceland Univesity (for halftime we could have an Elvis impersonator)
Hannibal-Legrange University (halftime, for you history majors, could be a reenactment of Hannibal crossing the Alps)
Life University (I mean, who doesn't want life?)
Park University (Go Pirates!! They have a campus at Hill AFB. MARKETING COUP!! Dare I say, this could be an INSTATE Match up.)
Peru State College (Who knew?)
Paul Quinn College (I think this is a cosmetology school...we could have their team, after the game, do a demonstration)
The Master's College (Hell, who wouldn't want to play the MASTER's, I didn't know a golf tournament had their basketball team)
Voorhees College (That's what Monika said to Bill)
Xavier University (Yes, there is a NAIA team...we could invite these guys to Ogden. Kick their asses and then claim it was a rematch of last years NCAA Tourny game).

If not NAIA...why not SWAC teams? I heard that Grambling was one of the better teams in NCAA DI last year. Hell, playing them is like playing SUU or UNCO, bottom of the RPI. It would be like a conference game.

Tal what an awesome game. Guess the NAIA cupcake. Let me see if Ye Old Cupcake Shoppe will give the winner a free cupcake or 6. Brandon Garside should do pretty well at this game. He is quite selective when the cupcakes hit media row. I have watched him take close to 5 minutes just to pick a damn cupcake.

Here are my picks for guess the NAIA cupcakes:
Central Christian College (KS) Enrollment = 259
University of St. Mary (KS) Enrollment = 400
Webber International University (FL) Enrollment = 659
William Carey University (MS)Enrollment = 0 (not sure how that works)
University of the Southwest (NM) Enrollment = 0
I also vote for Paul Quinn College Enrollment = 450

Oh, I really hope that William Carey University has a chance of cracking our schedule. They would be perfect for our OOC. I can see them sometime in December at the Dee. That would be a week off for Ron (not that he doesn't already take off, what 48 weeks each year already).

Start conference off with 3 straight road games against our three biggest rivals, that's a tough way to start.

I like the fact that we jump right in to the most difficult road stretch right off the bat. I think it will get our guys going and set us up for a good finish. If we come out with a couple of wins over that two weeks, we will be in control. It also puts more emphasis on the preseason, to get us ready. Once again, our Thanksgiving tournament may turn out to be big in that preparation.

Now, if we could just get some more quality home games into the picture. :coffee:

Before anyone gets too snarky, here is a look at Sac Sts home OOC schedule.

11/4 - Pac Union (exhibition)
11/17 - Antelope Valley
11/21 - dungpilers at G1
12/3 - UC Merced (double header with WBB vs USC)
12/17 - Abilene Christian

:yikes: :shocking: :wtf:

And, what's a Dungpiler anyways?

Did you look at our away schedule??? 2 Pac12's, a Big 10 and a WCC....match that olds....If we had a 12,000 seat arena, we would have someone a bit better at home....after all, you played Antelope Valley and Pac Union plus Multnomah at home last year....Abilene Christian is a member of the Southland Conference....and FYI, a dungpiler is a UC Davis Aggie...

I figured it was Davis. I just wanted somebody else to say it out loud. Beat those guys up good for us. We play them 3 days later, up in Alaska. It will be televised on CBSSN, nationwide. Go ahead and kick some crap out of those Turdtillers.

I did notice your road schedule. It looks good. Haven't seen our whole schedule yet, but our road games are usually good as well. We usually have no more than two money games per year. Your situation requires a few more to fill the coffers. I see that your efforts to get a new arena built is starting to get a little momentum. I've always thought that the Sacramento community has great potential for generating support and revenue. When talking about fans and revenue, more is better. I think that everyone in the BSC is pushing for the same thing.

Our home schedule sucked last year. We are all hoping for better this year. We will see. Our schedule is not out yet.

BTW, we call our Aggies the Gaggie Aggies. However, we still like them the best out of all the others in Utah. They have treated us the best. YBU used to be the most hated, the 'holier than thou' attitude. The UUs have taken that spot now. They are too good, or scared, to play any of us, and their coach is a monumental D-Bag.

I was thinking back over the past 47 years of instate games. There was a time when the UUs were not so high and mighty, in their minds at least. They are mostly disgusting right now. Not much redeeming about them at this juncture. They don't deserve their nickname. If I were a member of that tribe, I would tell them to stop using it, just like another tribe did up at ND. It must be an embarrassment to them. :yikes:

Utah State used to be my least favorite of the instate trash but Utah has definitely taken that spot, I'll always "respect" USU and BYU for continuing to play us. I have absolutely zero, none, nada, zilp, zilch respect for the University of Utah either as a university or athletic institution

You got that right!

The U scores as the lowest of low in so many ways...

Taking graduate programs out of the mix, and considering the full costs of getting an education, here is how I would rank the 4 year schools in Utah.

WSU
USU
SUU
UVU
Dixie
Western Governors
BYU
West Minster
UU

Based on what? BYU is a great education for the cost (If your Mormon). Some companies don't recognize Western Governers degrees, so I am not sure how that would be better than U of U or BYU.

I just want see what pasties we are bringing to the DEE. I also am interested to see how the spin doctor Bovee is going to sell the schedule to us.

I'm not hating on BYU here. They are the top religious school in our state. Religious schools in general get less respect academically because of how they treat some technical and scientific questions. 'God said so' can't always be the answer in the real world. BS degrees have a certain base value in and of themselves. The value may go up or down slightly depending on the reputation or notoriety of the school. After that, I was giving consideration to the total costs involved in attending a school, the emphasis placed on undergraduate degrees by the school, and my own personal opinion. I stand by my list. :thumb: :thumb:

Now, if we are talking about post grad programs, UU is the top dog, USU would be next, and then the rest of the list wouldn't change much. :twocents:

Wow...we really need to see the schedule! I'm guessing if it was an improvement over last year, it would be out already. I don't see that happening. I'm guessing we won't see the schedule for another couple of weeks. I'm hoping before August. If we dip into August, the schedule might be really ugly and athletics will try to deflect criticism by covering up the news with the start of fall camp, Soccer, and anything else.

I agree. The longer it goes, the more likely it will be another poor home schedule. Good news gets out a bit faster. They are probably trying to think of a way to convince us that a game with Sister Mary of the Poor, School of Cosmetology will be exciting and fun for all. It should be well worth the price of admission. We will probably have the Valley School for Antelopes and Multiple Mouths College for Welders on the schedule as well.

No news is not good news in this situation. :wall:
