2016/17 schedule

I'm not hating on BYU here. They are the top religious school in our state. Religious schools in general get less respect academically because of how they treat some technical and scientific questions. 'God said so' can't always be the answer in the real world. :

This may be the case for bible colleges in the south, but not BYU. I am a scientist. I have worked with many scientists who received science degrees from BYU, and I have yet to meet one who was not technically sound or had beliefs that that interfered with their professional career. In fact, one of my Geology classes at Weber used a textbook written by a BYU professor. To throw them in the same heap as the Bible Colleges is not accurate.

I do like playing them and home we can continue to schedule home and home series with them. As mentioned by several posters, I respect BYU and USU for playing us year in and year out. I don't respect the attitude that the University of Utah athletic department has shown to other in state schools.

I'm beginning to think that the BSC is re-evaluating their 18 game schedule. I would support moving it to 20 or 22. Why not?

They may have been waiting for the new staff before jumping into the debate and ultimate decision. I hope they get it all together soon. :coffee:

20-22 conference games only helps Schools like UND that struggle getting games, and further dilutes Weber's SOS. We've got to hit the road and and play power conference after power conference or we won't see better than a 15 seed ever again.

It might actually help us if we were to drop all of the Jr Highs we have been playing lately. It isn't just a matter of playing the big programs, you have to win as well. Simply playing them and getting your butt handed to you every time, does not help your RPI. Playing them closely doesn't help. Beating teams is the only way. Putting a beatdown on Sister Mary of the Poor School of Cosmetology doesn't help a bit.

Most teams in the BSC have not published a schedule yet. The exception to that is Montana. They have a great schedule. Their home schedule looks great compared to what ours has been. That tells me that there is no reason we can not upgrade our home schedule. I think that it is time to ask for better. It may also be a time to get it out of the hands of the coaches. :coffee:

Even if they don't upgrade the schedule you will likely buy 14 season tickets again. It's time to keep showing our approval or disapproval with our wallets.

I can tell you this: Once you are a noncontributory, your voice means next to nothing. Dropping out does not get you to the finish line. It never has and it never will. I've said it before, and I'll say it over and over again. You can choose to be part of the solution or you are part of the problem. In the end, those who choose to be part of the solution will have the greatest voice in the outcome. Those who choose to obstruct will be nothing more than a bump in the road. We all have choices.

There is no reason Weber cant schedule a home and home with teams like UNLV, New Mexico or San Diego State, Weber just needs to be willing to fork over a little more cash, it's simple people will show up to watch Weber vs Boise State over Weber vs Multnomah.

There are I believe 52 other teams in the west, (BBig West, WCC, MWC, WAC, PAC12) it shouldn't be that hard to schedule some of them.

From what I have heard, Weber really is playing West Coast Baptist. LOL THIS IS THE FIRST OF THREE, OR FOUR PATSY'S. Really something to get excited about...what a home schedule Weber State fans can look forward to.

Oh, we know that we are playing at BYU and USU. BYU's contract hasn't been finalized, but it is going to happen. I think they are trying to get a 2 for 1 out of Weber. I'm fine with that if the schedule is @BYU, @Weber, @BYU and then the next Contract is a home and home that starts with @Weber and then ends with @BYU. That would be a perfect set up! Denver is coming to Ogden and I think Portland is too, but I could be wrong. I've heard whisperings that Randy was trying to set something up with Tinkle to play at OSU and to get another game in the Northwest. If we end up at St. Mary's again...SO HELP ME!! Those bums better come to Ogden next season.

On another note...Whats up with not making the Hornets or Vikings play at elevation, totally not fair that Weber has to go to sea-level and another time zone, and they don't have to return. LOOOOOOOL :dunce:

At least it's not Westboro Baptist. I still find it offensive that we are giving money to a school like that. Why don't we just play Islamic State University or Bin Laden School for Social Justice or Trump U. Maybe we are stuck with this Baptist Madrassa.

OK, I will accept one of these stinkers on the schedule. Please, NO MORE, unless they are just an exhibition. Find a lower DI or a better DII, but PLEASE, no more of these middle schools. It doesn't help us in any way, it's a waste of money, fans don't like it, and it isn't in the best interest of anybody involved.

Please, please, please, please get us some mid-major HnH contracts. At least 3 or 4 of them per year. Only one payout game and one exhibition patsy. It is not too much to ask and it will better prepare us for BSC play. Playing the Baptist Jihadists will not help us in any way. :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :shocking:

We released the schedule July 22nd last year and I was thinking that was a little than later in years past. With so few Big Sky teams having released their non-conference schedules yet, I hope the rumors of a challenge with a another conference are true. For the third straight year we are playing in a great pre-season tourney. I would prefer to play UC Davis, Iona and then Nevada for the title. I want to see a Pac 12 road game this year. OSU, USC and Oregon would be my preferences. We will have logged more minutes on the floor than most of the teams we play. Plus three of our guys have played in two NCAA tournament games. We should go out and play anyone anywhere. Losing to a good team does help your RPI. You want your losses to be against good teams and not UVU and ISU. Non D1 schools do not count towards your RPI, so there really isn't a point in playing them.

Olds, You drive me crazy. You act like I haven't ever wrote, letters, made phone calls and had in person visits. I have done those things. I was told last season that the athletic department was going to meet with boosters, fans and former players and come up with a new direction for the future. As you pointed out on the thread about the meetings, to our knowledge that never happened, TALK IS CHEAP! All we are getting is talk back and no results. Jerry has done some good things here, but he does like to talk about implementing things and at the end of the day just putting it in cruise control and doing just enough. 2016/17 the year of no excuses. Wouldn't that be nice.

I don't mind a pasty on our schedule, especially if it's at the beginning of the year or the game before conference starts to get some last second tune ups. However I do not want to see more than one on our schedule, they do nothing to help us in the long run. If it means 3 or more games on the road against Power teams fine, but enough is enough.

Speaking of power teams, there is bound to be at least one of them on our schedy and it may be Oregon State like Tal said.

I wouldn't mind if Portland made a trip to the Dee, and if we really are taking a trip to the Northwest, lets go all out and play Gonzaga.

Scheduling came up for a minute on the "Ask the AD" you tube video released today. I was happy to hear Mr. Bovee talk about getting the program at a place where we can get better seeds and win games in the NCAA tournament. (He even referenced Gonzaga) From my perspective, the upcoming schedule will be the first test to determine if the administration intends to walk the talk.

webergrad02;

I agree with almost everything you say and respect most of your efforts to improve things. I just don't agree with the dropping out part. I was intending to make a general statement. It's not personal. Almost everyone on this board are true fans and want the best for WSU and the BSC. You obviously care deeply, and I fully respect that.

The schedule is not out yet, but if it is another stinker, we should hold their feet to the fire until change happens. Our program will not take the next step playing these patsies. We may have to push them, kicking and screaming, into that next step. :wall: :wall: :wall: :grizo1: :wtf:

UNC is the second BSC school to publish its schedule. Their roadies are good, but their home schedule sucks dirty socks. Oh well, they don't have a crowd to lose anyways.

Something to think about...None of the DI schools have released its schedule for 16-17 yet. There might be hope!

However, Montana has released its schedule and they play a full DI schedule...

The Grizzlies play 4 Division 1's on in Missoula: Pepperdine, Wisc-Milwaukee, San Jose State & Pepperdine. They also play 6 Div 1 road games and 3 neutral Div1 games. Nice pre-conference schedule. Whatever excuses are used for a schedule any less than Montana's are "BS". It would reflect more laziness than Weber being unable to get people to play them even at their home. I don't believe that Div 1 schools are any less afraid of playing Montana than they are Weber. No more excuses, only results.
