Coaching rumors

I wondered at Mcelwain leaving Alabama for CSU but heard the main reason was the CSU had made a commitment to increase football funding including coaches salaries and facilities. Beau is smart and I don't see him taking a job at another FCS or middling MWC program where it's tough to consistently win. I'm guessing he's biding his time until a PAC-12 OC job or another Boise State type scenario comes knocking. A school that is committed to supporting football.

But since we're into rumors, what if Montana has decided internally to move up in the next few years and can commit to an FBS type salary on top of the facility improvements they are about to make? 8-) :ugeek:

Another rumor is the golf club membership could be the swinging factor... a golf club membership...in Missoula!!!!

A wise move on their part. When is the last time CSU has been in the top 25.
Beau's next step should be up to the FBS level whether HC or coordinator that is where the money is. Any coach could hang around FCS forever and not make the money many coordinators makes in FBS.

This whole discussion about UM coach and Beau leaving is stupid. Something started by Griz supporters to help with their recruiting efforts. A lot of folks on here fell into their trap and helped their cause. Congratulations on that. Delete this whole thing and chalk one up to egriz.

I don't think anyone believes Beau is leaving, some of us are just saying he is going to be considered by the Griz, that doesn't mean he wants to go there. The Griz would be crazy not to consider him and some pretty good sources have said he is one of their candidates to pursue, but I believe if Beau leaves it will be a big step up to a FBS program, not a FCS program. Plus, we have a TON of talent returning next year, he'd be crazy to go after this year, unless its the perfect FBS job.

Time will tell if the rumors from the Griz are right, but the last two, the new facilities announcement and timing of delaney's announcement for leaving were spot on...

Yah, but would we still love him (Baldwin) as much if he went to the Dark Side (Montana).
I definitely would have some hard feelings, but wouldn't blame him as I would (unfortunately) see it as a step up for him in terms of pay/fan base (attendance not quality) and facilities.

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
At which part?

This part.

http://www.bigskyconf.com/news/2014/11/14/FB_1114145749.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; it states "If Eastern Washington and Montana State tie for the conference title with no other teams, Eastern Washington would win the tiebreaker because of its head-to-head non-conference win over the Bobcats."

I think it is ridiculous to spend time worrying about Baldwin going to Montana because it ain't gonna happen. Of course the Griz want Beau, but that doesn't mean they are going to get him.

As Eagle fans we need to be prepared for BB to take over at a FBS program, but unless he gets a great offer this year I think he wants to at least finish the ride with Vernon first. I see Beau moving on after next season.

I'm officially done wasting time on this topic for now.

1. This topic has devolved . It had nothing to do with "coaching rumors"

2. Anyone think they'd go after June Jones?

I agree with LDopaPDX. This nervous talk about coaching changes is weak. Now, let's talk about the griz getting their asses handed to them by the cats. I want to see the griz season end this weekend.

And thus the point, is it better for the Griz to lose and miss another playoffs? Or better for MSU to lose so they don't get to have a claim to a shared title? I want the damn thing all to ourselves.

Has to be pretty embarrassing for UM to have to hire a coach from school they can't beat yet has significant financial advantages.

Not as embarrassing as losing the greatest coach in your program's history to a fellow FCS school....

...boom

Can't beat?? It would appear that we hold a 2:1 lead overall in the series. Even including your recent 3 straight, the series is .500 over the last 10 years, which by the way included a 4 game win streak for us.

Take it all with a grain of salt; people are going to embellish a bit on account of the rivalry. Everyone at Eastern knows Montana has a great program and a lot of inherent advantages. Just the same, there are some things about our program that make us unique and advantageous.

Also, the series lead is what it is; I believe Montana won 7 of 8 against Eastern when we were still an NAIA school.

If you have some compelling information (other than the normal bravado) to support this being factual, then please share it.

Otherwise, your post...means...nothing...

And yet Washington holds a 58-43-5 all-time advantage over Oregon. In 2014, who do you suppose has the better on-the-field product? These things are cyclical...but a 4-1 record against Montana in the past 5 years might be considered a "trend".

What's more, Eastern is 12-19-1 against the Griz since becoming a transitional member of NCAA Division I in 1983, and in those early years of 1-AA the Eagles were playing with fewer scholarships than other teams until it completed its transition. The 12-19-1 is a few more accurate depiction of the overall series than what you cited.

But thanks for playing!

Your "trend" was nothing more than beating up on a powerhouse with one hand tied behind its back the last 3 years...

-New $2,000,000 Athletic Academic Center
-New $14,000,000 Champions Center built overlooking the south end zone with massive glass windows which will house:
-FBS level weight room
-FBS level locker room
-Coaches Lounge
-Players Lounge
.
.
.
-new Head Coach
.
.
.
.
.
-new Griz vision with massive video screen
-ESPN to kickoff the new coaches era

The Eags won't like a heathy Griz as much as a wounded one...

I, for one, hope you guys become relevant again. It's good for the conference.

BTW, so we get to count our wounded years too?

Ooooo a coaches lounge! How exciting! Seriously, dude, we were all pretty complimentary when your plans were announced and your sugar daddy made his donation to make it happen but don't come on our board and make like your program is somehow more deserving. UM and MSU are the only game in the state and take the lion share of attention and revenue. The rest of the BSC schools in states with FBS and big 5 conference teams (everyone but UND) don't have that singular advantage and still compete. Your collective arrogance is the reason everyone says FTG and means it!
