Hawaii vs UNC

I'll pick Hawai'i and give 35 points. Stakes a school cap. Any Bear fans interested?

35? The line will probably be around 60 (if there even is one).

From the Rocky Mountain News today.

59.5 points is how much online oddsmaker BetUs.com expects Northern Colorado to lose by Saturday at Hawaii. Most oddsmakers don't set lines for regular-season games involving Division I-AA teams such as UNC. But Keith Glantz, whose Glantz-Culver Line appears in the Rocky Mountain News, says Bears fans shouldn't set their hopes too high for the game. "Unless they call off the troops, Hawaii should be able to score in the 70s," Glantz said. "It's just a practice game for them, like a preseason game in the NFL, but it counts in the standings. If they score 30 points in the first half they might call off the dogs and end up in the 50s, but I can also see them scoring in the 70s to send a message."

I'll be glad when this game is over. I'm sick or waiting around for the bad news. It's kind of like waiting for report cards.

I am looking forward to it. Outside of giving up over 79 points UNC can't really lose (injuries aside). Our players and staff get to go to Hawai'i and play one of the top college teams in the nation.

Yeah but going into a game where there is no hope isn't that interesting to me.

The only real question is will we just be embarrassed, really embarrassed, or like record setting embarrassed.

Not my idea of a fun day out.

The only thing I'm telling myself is paycheck, paycheck, paycheck...

Go there, get your money, and get out with no injuries. I hope Downing is looking ahead to Chadron, nobody expects UNC to beat Hawaii, but I for one am expecting them to beat Chadron, which would you gamble with? Losing to a ranked up and coming FBS power? Or losing to a DII school? UNC Bears priority #1- Beat Chadron State

I agree wholeheartedly, the problem is two very different offensive strategies employed by these two teams. It would be better if it wasn't the R&S so at least the D could focus on stopping the run in prep for CSC. We will have extra DB's in the game vs. UH, but we will need extra LB's for CSC.

Yeah they are polar opposites. This is where coaching comes in, Hopefully Downing knows how to prepare these boys for Brennan and Woodhead. I personally think UNC will be fine against CSU, one player does not make a whole team good.

This game has striking similarities to PSU's game with San Diego State, both UNC and SDSU will not be caught off guard. New Mexico(PSU beat them) and Montana State(CSU beat them) were caught with their pants down. But don't think it will happen again. No surprises on the 8th  Good luck Bear fans, don't take effect to the UH game, as Farmer Fran says "we-liv-a-pay-anoda-day".

Hi! Something we started on one of the Hawaii forums last year is opponent lookalikes. It's all in fun - I promise. :D Here's the link to the UNC thread.

Hawii fans (or most of us) welcome an opponent's return efforts. Last year some guys got us pretty good on a few lookalikes. In fairness, here's a link to Hawaii's roster to get you started.

That is hilarious. I don't really see myself making the effort to try and retaliate though.

I thought the alicia keys one was the best.

Ah, well. Save it for your conference opponents. The year is just beginning.
