Hawaii vs UNC

O.K!!!

Back to the UH UNC game. UH fans, who is starting at RB? I've read about the two guys competing, Jackson and Pilares, who do you think will win the position? The Parade All-American or the Local boy?

So this thred often wandered into UNC vs psu smack. So I split out those posts and put them in the smack forum.

You may continue to bash on the Metro State of Oregon there :D

How about a little education, here, folks...Especially for you smackers, proof that you need to do your research.

Hawaii Warriors Football History:
League/Conference affiliations
* No affiliation (1909-1911, 1915-1941)
* Division II Independent (1946-1960, 1962-1973)
* Division I-A Independent (1974-1978)
* Western Athletic Conference (1979-present)
o No team (1912-1914, 1942-1945, 1961)

Oh, and the BSC has NEVER been a D-II conference.

It's still pretty much up for grabs. Both have to get the blocking schemes down, but Pilares had a head start since he was here for spring ball. Many are expecting much from Leon and he has had some highlights in practice, but like he said it's only practice still. I expect both will rotate during the season along with Farmer, who is the better of three at the blocking schemes.

BTW, I heard about the new uniforms over there. Looks like a total makeover from last year. I'm guessing the fans have something to say about that..

Congrats, I'm more lazy then you are! :roll: Any fan can go to the College Football data house and find that.

Probably won't know until the first series of the first game
How 'bout both Jackson & Pilares in the backfield together ?
Total confusion. Pass, Run, who knows.

Weak smack. You must enjoy stealing candy from babies as well.

Why exactly would I want to use my best Smack against a team that I allready know were gonna school.

By the way if you guys are D1 then why are you in the Big sky.
Last time I checked it was a D2 conference.

I'm sorry, I just enjoyed sitting back and reading until i got to this. Do you know ANYTHING about college football? Have you even been reading anything else on this board? Big Sky is in the FCS, or Football Championship Sub-division, formerly known as D1-AA. You obviously haven't checked in a LONG time if you still think the big sky was a D2 conference

you mean we're going to get our asses kicked hard for $64,000? I thought we were getting $400,000 for it. Geessh...not worth it if you ask me.

Yeah, I don't get that either. That can't be right, if so taking this game was a huge mistake. :roll:

Best guess is that the $400k includes the travel, lodging, ect. and so after all is said and done, we clear a $64k profit.

Even if we broke even, I think the game is good for the program. As long as we don't set a record for the worst loss in NCAA history, it will be a fun trip for the players (remember how excited they were when it was announced) and has to be good for recruiting.

You'd have to lose by 220 points to break that record, so no chance of that. And I agree this could be a great move recruiting wise. There are always a few players in the islands that fall between the .

Not sure what to make of this either. The article does say that it "guarantees" those things so maybe their is a kicker for extra ticket sales or something. If not, clearing just $65K doesn't seem like it would be worth it to me, we probably could have made more with another home game against a crappy D2. Of course this a 12th game so that argument doesn't fly I guess.

We're not looking to cushion our game...we're just looking for game.

We fully expected to lose to USC each time we played 'em, but we pulled some bragging rights out of mayhem. When asked which defender gave him the hardest time in college ball, Reggie Bush cited Hawaii's own Leonard Peters. Ali could not have delivered a better knock-out punch than our own RB Kelikipi's stiff arm to a USC defender. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79unPNhW0WQ

The $65K is just an accounting profit. The economic profit will be much greater in the long run.

Bear Down boys. Thanks for giving us a game.

For those of you on the Big Island and Maui, stay safe. I love Hawaii and their people and hope you all make it through okay.

Apparently, Hawaii fans are excited about the UNC game. It has sold the second most tickets of any game on Hawaii's schedule.
