an before you respond I played for Collin and I know what he is and what he isn't so please keep your comments to yourself. The guy sucks as a coach. He is an even worse person so please take your defense of him elsewhere

My big problem is the attacks on Collins are baisically unsubstantiated moaning by some who had it out for him all season. There is a lot to be critical of Collins for and I think the Bears would be much better off if he was gone but my guess is some of the quitters on the team are as much at fault as Collins is. We are getting very one sided stories here.

I wish we had better and fair reporting from the non-partisan media in Greeley which really only consists of the Trib. Because we don't have that, I am not buying the stories that come from either side. It sucks.

I have noticed a lot of new posters who seem to have joined just to have a go at Collins. I know I shouldn't believe a lot of the first hand stuff, as like you mentioned, we have no third party reporting to verify anything. Maybe it was the frustration of the year that made me start to believe some of the rumors wholesale. My dislike of Collins (as a coach) has grown throughout the season with some of the choices that have been made by him and his staff, but coming on here to talk about how awful of a person he is (which I will admit is uncalled for) is where we should draw the line. Coaching critiques are valid, but personal attacks about his character seem to be a bit much.

I played for him. You guys who watch the games haven't seen what goes on on the inside. That's why posters on here are so disfavorable of him. Former players are getting on here because we care about the sake of the program. My good friend plays for the team currently and the shit I hear that is still going on is just shocking. I just wish that things would change. This program is an embarrassment and I'm embarrassed to say I even played here due to collins and his actions.
What's your real name? Or are you going to hide behind a screen name?

My 3 issues:
1. I think the poor performance on the field is worth sacking Collins over (regardless of what is happening behind the scenes).

2. There is no truth on a message board - Even if say, 3 players log on and say all sorts of bad stuff is happening (without being specific), it really doesn't mean anything. There are what, 60 or so players involved in the program at any given time. Of course there are always going to be a handful that bitch and moan about something. For us outsiders, we have no real objective way to filter a few internet ramblings and determine what is true and what isn't.

3. Can't we all just get along? I am getting tired of people bashing each other on this board and it's clear that some people hate coach Collins as a person. I don't think it's fair to bash him as a person from behind a screen name without specifics backed up by evidence. And one disenfranchised players moaning isn't evidence. I am sure there are still players on the team that are loyal to coach Collins as a coach and person and want him to stay. Are their feelings any more or less valid than those players that want him out? I don't think we have to sink that low when there is enough horrific data from the box score to keep us busy bitching about the plight of the team for a decade.

SLenz -- have you ever heard where there's smoke there's fire?

Beardown -- I appreciate where you are coming from, but the last kid who openly discussed frustration with Collins got sent packing?

To the people involved in the program, understand what you control, work hard, and be the man at what you do. Fight the impulse to bitch and moan as ultimately it will create a toxic and devisive environment -- even if it's completely justified.

Jeezes, it is beginning to sound like this board needs a couch session with a psychiatrist !! We are delving way to deep into peoples minds and trying to justify this, that and the other ! The bottom line is that this is not about Ernest Collins the person, this is about Ernest Collins the coach and sorry but he has failed as the HC and should be let go. Coaches get cut loose all the time for better results than Collins has achieved. Some get axed in mid season and are not allowed to ride the bus back home. Sadly this decision is going to haunt us for awhile and as a fan and booster this is going to hurt this programs pocketbook (at least my pocketbook ), recruiting, and psyche for years.

When Coach Collins "the person" walks past a kid and kicks him off the team and doesn't do it in his office, that's where I question his intergrity. Then goes to the trib and falsifies what happened, idk guys idk... :tothehand:

If that is how he handled it for sure, Then I totally agree with you !!. I would have lost respect for him. I would just want to know for sure

I'm only weighing in to confirm that Collins DID meet with the player in his office, contrary to what the family told Sam. "We've got to have that story changed" phone calls were placed by the family to certain athletic administrators before the call to the Trib. I have that from multiple sources.

I understand, but the first confrontation was in the arena and it was told to turn his stuff in. Then i believe they met after days later, I don't know if it either matters at this point...

And Troy, why was a fan forced to remove a sign saying "fire coach collins" . How can a fan be forced to give away a sign as it wasn't threatening or explicit??

I can't speak to the sign removal. I was busy on-air and paying no attention.

As for incident in the arena, when I have 4 people not named Collins telling me that it didn't go down that way, I'm apt to believe them. Especially after the late night phone calls from a parent saying "We've got to get that story changed".

Maybe there was some grammatical errors?

It was playerparents son. He said his son quit the other day and Ochiato is the only player I know who has quit, so his identity has been revealed. Maybe he can come on here and set the story straight.

Troy I appreciate your take on this and I appreciate everything you do for the program, but I'm sorry none of us know exactly what went down and neither do you. I do know that I have heard from several players that that is the way it went down. I also know that I would actually trust the players word over 4 people whom I am assuming are UNC employees and are in the position of spinning this in favor of the program and the university. The truth is probably somewhere in between.

But all that is beside the point. The real question isn't whether or not Collins is a good person, it is whether or not Collins is a good head coach. And there isn't a person on here that can provide a fact based argument that he is. The record speaks for itself. Anybody that believes that giving him another year or two is going to lead to a different result is either delusional or a fool.

That is not true and you know it. If you have access toooooooooothe program ask the players also dont just ask coaches whoare afraid for thier jobs.

Your disgruntled players story holds just as much water as any coaches story. The truth probably lies somewhere in between. Looking at the poll, it's clear that nobody wants coach Collins to stay so maybe it's time to stop the infighting and move on to basketball or volleyball for a little while.

Portland State University announced Wednesday that Head Football Coach Nigel Burton's contract is being terminated. During Burton's five years at PSU, the Vikings posted 21 wins to 36 losses, including a 3-9 record this season.

I know I'm :dead: but I couldn't help noticing this. Collins can only dream of reaching such a lofty record after 5 years and yet Dunn isn't capable of coming to the conclusion that Collins will never cut it?

Because they have an AD who gives a damn I assume. I honestly keep coming on here in hopes that something has changed and we got rid of him. #CollinsOut
