UNC vs. Chadron State

I like the smart-ass comment by Dowing about his decision not to recruit Woodhead...

Haha, yea, seems like it got under his skin a little bit on why he didn't recruit him. I'm sure that will be in the locker room for the next 2 weeks :D

I caught a little of Washburn's broadcast online, and Chadron really turned the game on a pick when the Ichabods were driving to tie early in the 3rd quarter...

Woodhead went 86 yards on the next play to make it 34-17.

a team that can barely beat washburn has absolutely no chance of beating UNC. I was nervous for this game but when I really think about it, Chadron is going to get crushed and that running back's NFL aspirations are going down the toilet when he only rushes for 60 yards against our D. At least we will have at least one win this year. No RMAC team will ever beat us at Nottingham--it is ridiculous that they think they have a chance.

You're on crack. They're going to kill us. My grandma can run on our d and she's dead.

I'll bet you $100 on this game--the loser has to pay the money to the Blue and Gold Club. The loser will have to verify his donation by posting a picture of the receipt in the picture section of this web site.

Woodhead will get his yards and a touchdown or two, but the Bears will still come out on top. That's how I see the game going.

How about just giving me $1 for every yard Woodhead rushes against you instead. I'll take checks if you don't have enough cash.

I don't bet but if I did I am sure the school would like your donation. I don't mean to be a negative nancy but the eagles are a better team. Plain and simple.

Maybe he'll regret it when Woodhead runs wild in two weeks. Then again, probably not - it was just a stupid, CYA comment.

BTW - we won't see UNC playing Texas anytime soon either...

I don't think he meant it as a smart-ass. He's got a point. Woodhead is very good but he's doing this against RMAC teams. Still....he shouldn't add fuel to the fire.

We could say the same for Vincent Jackson when he was being drafted into the NFL. But he only made those catches against DII teams, not Texas or Oklahoma. It's not like the Chadron O-Line is the 1992 Nebraska offensive line either.

Dumb comment - par for the course IMHO.

As for the game, Woodhead will get his yards - great players always do. I don't think it will be enough for CSC though as I think the Bears still win. It reminds me a lot of when we in and played Montana a few years ago with Vincent Jackson. He shredded them for like 200 years if I remember, it still wasn't enough though as we still lost the game.

I remember reading things like this for weeks on the bobcat nation message boards last year. I love it!

I agree. If this was the UNC of the mid 1990's I would agree with jjjj, but this team has not earned that kind of confidence yet. I really expect it to be a very competitive game.

jjj must have not seen a single game we played last year because I am sure he's a better fan. Our run defense was horrible and unless we made some drastic improvements we're going to suck again.

I don't think CSC is just a one man team like some of you are saying. They're ranked in the top 10 in D2. That says something about them as a team don't you think?

You're correct, I didn't have the stomach to watch any of the games last year but I did buy season tickets. I am not basing my statement off of any observable facts--I just have a feeling. Our team has to have a sense of pride that will require them to bleed out of their eyeballs before they let a D-2 embarrass them. Additionally, Chadron will seem slower than molasses after coming off of the UH game.

Additionally, I don't think top 10 in D2 means squat. I remember when we were D2 and the teams with the good records from the poser conferences (like the RMAC) were ranked above us when every team in the NCC would have crushed the RMAC supposed power. Every time an RMAC team makes the playoffs they get exposed for being the mediocre team that they are. Teams like Winona State are now making the playoffs. That is a joke--D2 is not what it once was--not even close.

I guess that it's hyperbole Friday?!?
My turn...

I think the UNC defense will feel slower than molasses when they attempt to catch DW. His 4.4 speed is for real.

Regarding RMAC PO teams...CSC was not exposed last year. They smoked a very respectable WTex in round 2 and was in the game at NW until the end.

I hope you are able to go to a UNC game this year, particularly the CSC win over UNC.

When I posted last time I hadn't even bothered to look up how far CSC made it in the playoffs or who they played but I knew that whatever success they had was the result of their padded RMAC record. So I just looked up the bracket and low and behold--CSC made the second round because they had a BYE. The joke called D2 playoffs now allows 24 teams in and CSC who didn't play anybody last year (except MSU) gets a bye because they beat up on teams like new mexico highlands and fort lewis. How many playoff games has CSC now won in its entire history? My guess is one and my prediction is that number two will not come this year. CSC is not even really a power in the new watered down D2.

Wow - who slipped urine into your OJ this morning?????

I like the except MSU comment...adds credibility to your post (sic). BTW - FT. Lewis would have been all UNC could handle last year...I'd guess you didn't do any research on them either.
