agreed. the thing that kills me is that this isnt even about whether or not he can play in the Pac 12. everyone knows he can. it's about what makes sense for the player. i am still holding out in some small hope that he will realize that finishing where he started makes the most sense. i think he will will end up regretting it in the long run if he decides to go somewhere else but there is a tremendous amount of outside influence right now so i can understand the difficulty in it.

Obviously hoping Adams will be back next year, but no hard feelings if he thinks Oregon is in his better interests. I wish him the very best regardless of which jersey he wears next season.

VA is in LA today. Wonder if UCLA has offered.

Apparently Texas and UCLA are both interested, but again, why go anywhere that you're not guaranteed to start at? There are so many negatives about this situation I honestly question why there are so many people pushing this on him. Take the emotion out of it, this entire thing has the potential to completely blow up in his face. Any way you slice it, it just doesn't make sense.

I completely agree. I think trying to move up a level without even having the benefit of spring ball is a recipe for disaster. A mediocre season due to the lack of time to gel with players, and really learn the system doesn't mean he is a bad player, or someone who couldn't succeed at that level. But it will look that way. I think a great senior season at the FCS level will do much more for his future prospects.

That being said, I wondered if the opportunity to play closer to home might be enticing to him. I thought when I saw UCLA had interest, they could be a school that could tip him over the edge. I guess we'll see. In any event, I think the opportunity, even with how huge of a gamble it is, may be too enticing to pass up, especially if he can play where it's easy for friends and family to come watch him.

I think in his own mind, he's good enough to start wherever he goes. And that may be true, but missing spring ball is really hard to look past. I remember when Kyle Padron transferred in during the summer and although he was the starter for a while he ended up getting beaten out by a RS Freshman. Maybe not a great analogy but the point is that winning the starting spot at Oregon and UCLA is going to be tough going into the season without having a complete grasp of the offense. My biggest fear isn't him transferring (because I think he will, unfortunately)...my biggest fear is the possibility of his Senior year being wasted if he ends up being beaten out by someone else. Agree with the above comments about this not being about whether he can play in the Pac-12. It's about what makes the most sense and what the better situation is for him as a player. You can't compare this with many transfer stories because this isn't like any of those (R. Wilson, etc). That said, I have a feeling he ends up at UCLA. From a personal perspective it makes more sense than Oregon, even though I think transferring is a huge mistake either way.

Being closer to home isn't always the best thing either. For some leaving home and leaving distractions behind is a good thing.....the trolls\pose may be more trouble than it could be
worth Coming Home.

I've read a couple articles that make it sound like his old HS coach is desperately trying to get him to transfer. I suppose he figures Eastern doesn't come to his neck of the woods all that often, so he's using this to try and get on the radar with some PAC-12 schools.

I noticed the same thing. Why is he all of a sudden speaking for Vernon?

I suppose I am in the minority here, but I actually think he will stay. He is poised to have his best year yet in a system he knows and with a team and coach that have his back. I can't imagine a situation that's much better than what VA has at EWU.

Everything I have seen and heard points to Oregon. But you're right, it is a delicate situation.

If the goal is to try and be instantly successful, you'd think Oregon is a better bet than either Texas or UCLA. The Bruins had some glaring weaknesses to address last season despite being a pretty solid group... Texas was as mediocre as mediocre gets; it's hard to imagine they suddenly become an 11 or 12 win team next season.

I think EWU is a better bet than all of those.

Vernon,
What ever path you choose for yourself, will be the right one. Don't look back, don't second guess. Just go be the best you can be

Whatever happens I would like to know what the conversation was when he asked for a release.
If my wife came to me and asked for a "release" to shop around for someone better I'd say OK, make sure you find a replacement because that door only swings one way.
OK a better analogy would be if an employee asked if they could look around for a better job and asked for a letter of recommendation but would like to come back if they can't land a better job, would the employer sit around and wait to see if you came back? I think NOT.
The day Vernon accepted the release he should have known he is no longer a member of the Eastern Washington Eagles.
