Sources: VA to announce that he is transferring to Oregon today.
hno: I'm not surprised in the least, but it just sucks.
*Edit* Oregon is it. Just announced on twitter.
This isn't surprising, his head is so inflated there was no way he could make a rational decision. I find it hard to support Vernon going forward, I have never been an Oregon fan and Vernon certainly would not change that. I'm hoping our D will be up to the challenge but I do think they will be a pleasant surprise next year. It will be interesting this Spring, Jordan vs Reilly (maybe a newcomer) but they will have the best OL & Receivers in FCS to lean on and if the Rb's stay healthy they may be among the best as well.
These are my sentiments as well. I'm supposed to root for Oregon because they stole our QB away from us? NOT. A. CHANCE.
Totally classless move on the part of both Oregon and Mr. Adams.
Good thing most Eastern fans don't think like you.
Why can't you just root for VA the player, not the team he plays for? He earned this. A chance to shine on a national stage with one of the most recognized college football teams in the nation? How could he pass this up? If he went to your team, would you be bitter? The young man did everything and more at EWU and he deserves a chance to shine at the FBS level. He earned it, and one should only be happy and wish him success. Best of luck to VA. This season will certainly test the EWU coaching staff but whoever is behind center for the Eagles has a bevy a playmakers to get the ball to. This next season will be fun to watch play out for both schools.
So to paraphrase your thoughts: What we should be teaching young people these days is to screw everyone and anything around you who has helped you to get where you are. Look out for #1, right?
Sorry, but that's not the message that I want my kids to learn.
To put it bluntly, that's just being sour and bitter. When it comes down to brass tacks, people, no matter what they're doing whether it's football, forensics, or flipping burgers, must do what's best for themselves. I guarantee if you or your child were in this position, you would do the same. His goal is to get to the NFL and playing for Oregon provides a much better medium, does it not? He did everything he could here and VA thinks this is better for his future. In life, everyone has people help them on their way to achieving their dreams, and although EWU and the staff helped him, Oregon is by far a better place to be to achieve his NFL dreams. You're wrong on this one. And if you were in the same spot, you'd do the same.
