It didn't take long...but bigplayva.com is down. Now it goes to goeags.com.

Interesting stuff said by Baldwin and Chaves above. Doesn't change what's happened, but underneath it, neither seems to happy about the way this happened.

There's gonna be times as a coach, yeah it frustrates you. This is a guy we recruited, this is a guy that we developed. And during that 3-4 years obviously Oregon doesn't feel like they've recruited or developed a guy to the same level that we have here in Cheney, Washington. So I'll be honest with you, that can be a little bit frustrating, and I would have to ask the question, because I don't see myself finding my next QB at Linfield.

Fucking BOOOM!!!!! Real talk from coach B, I love it. :notworthy:

Yeah, those words from BB were a dagger! I don't personally blame VA. I see why he made the choice. But Oregon, on the other hand. Beau's illustration of us poaching a player from Lynden demonstrated perfectly how low this move is on part of the Ducks.

I love coach B! That's why I never worry about our ethics in this program! We win, and we do it right! Something Oregon will never be able to say cause they don't do it right, or win. They'll always play bitch to their sugar daddy, Phil Knight.

I completely understand why and how Vernon could be wooed by Oregon with there ridiculous facilities and the chance to play on a national stage every Saturday. Vernon has every right to make decisions about his football career and I wish him all the luck. EWU offered Vernon an opportunity to earn a degree while playing football, and he honored that agreement. Congratulations on becoming an EWU alumni, you have earned this success.

My feelings about the University of Oregon are completely different however, and I think how they went about recruiting a player from another school completely lacks class or ethics. I do not believe for a moment that Oregon gives one crap about Vernon Adams or his future, he is an experiment to them.

Exactly how I feel about all of this. I hope VA chokes against us, shreds the Pac-12, and the Pac-12 shreds OU's (no, that's not a typo - fuck you arrogant bandwagon quacks) defense.

Havent looked at Oregon's schedule, but the first time Vernon can't go because of his issues it will be interesting to see how Oregon reacts, or when he is gimping around with cramps late in games...... Those things will not be easily overlooked on that big stage.

The first time he throws a pick, at least 25% of their bandwagon fanbase will boo him and question why they went after a "D-II" QB.

I hope VA is mentally tough enough to deal with that.

ESPN (Sports Center) just mentioned Eastern Washington University 3 times. They brought up the fact that EWU opens at Oregon and were promoting a little bit of Drama. I love how they're talking about it on National TV. They'll probably repeat it on the 10 O'clock Sports Center if you missed it.

From the Rafters....
go eags!

Not too long ago, you could count the members on this board with two hands. Many of you complained that our facilities were unable to attract prolific athletes, that we couldn't beat WSU to the front page of the Spokesman, and that the Griz would always be our bigger, more successful brother. Our attendance was too low, our fan base too thin, and our alumni support too little. Fast forward just a few years and see where we are. Vernon is a big reason we have more support, put fear into Pac12 opponents, and finally own the Griz. Criticize him all you want, but Vernon helped our program achieve a lot. He has earned the right to take his talent to a bigger stage. His absence will provide an opportunity for the next Eagle great to take us even higher. I want players and students at my University who will push themselves as far as they can. As Eagles, that's how we get things done. We don't lean on endowments, donors, or diplomas. We outwork you. Vernon pushed himself as far as he could in Cheney. I'm hopeful he will achieve even more in Eugene. Good luck Vernon, and good luck to every Eagle that wears the red and white. Forever.

Excellent post 93. I appreciate everything that he's done for EWU Football and the University as a whole, and hope he captures his dreams. But fuck Oregon. :finger:

Hate to break this news but the EWU is not going to beat Oregon. Don't be delusional.

Ohio State laid out a pretty good blueprint and showed just how bad Oregon's defense is..... :thumb:

This may be a dumb question but does this mean he no longer can practice with the team in spring ball? And..when does spring ball start? Can anyone go and watch?

He can no longer take part in any team functions, to include Spring Ball. I'm sure he'll be working on things with some of his former teammates in the offseason, though.

I don't know about the latter part of that. They'll be busy working with our potential starters. And if I were one of his former teammates and WRs, I'd tell him to throw to himself. :twocents:

As a Duck fan I've been following this thread for the last couple weeks to see how y'all felt about VA and what kind of player and person we were getting. I am so glad I found this board for multiple reasons. I think it's really cool to see the positive reactions supporting Adams and believing in VA no matter what. I have definitely been encouraged to read that VA meant so much to the school and many of its fans.

I am more happy though to see so many petulent, crybaby children claiming Oregon did something wrong and abused some rules. It's always funny to see people believe that college football players take blood oathes to a school and owe their lives to fans. The only thing Adams owed to EWU was to earn his degree and he did that.

It is not foul at all for him to move up. He took advantage of a good rule that exists for good reasons. Reasons that include getting the opportunity of a lifetime at Oregon. This will be way better for him than staying at EWU whether he plays or not. If he can't compete against some college kids in Eugene, how can he expect to compete with NFL professionals?

Guys leave FBS teams to go to the FCS level all the time (Oregon lost two guys to FCS programs this offseason alone). It's about time someone took advantage of an opportunity and moved up a level. I supported Jeremiah Masoli in 2010 and rooted for Ole Miss that year after he used the rule to go there (and he did not leave Eugene under good terms at all). I believe in "Once a Duck, Always a Duck" whether gys leave as transfers, give up football, or get booted for legal trouble. You certainly don't have to like Oregon and you can hate on VA all you want but supporting his decision or hating on him shows your true colors as a fan as to whether you really care about the guys you root for or not.

Go Ducks.

P.S. We're UO. OU is Oklahoma. It's a fairly important distinction.

What article did you read that in? Also, congrats on your what, second year as an Oregon fan?

Once a Duck, Always a Duck... until they Suck. :coffee:

Probably not, but that's what OSU thought as well. If VA can't learn the playbook in time or has an off-day (which EWU fans can attest to), then it will be a fight. Oregon's D is garbage, and clearly doesn't think much of the other QBs on their roster. :coffee:

Somebody just compared EWU to Ohio State. Let that sink in for a bit. You guys are lower tier. Can't fault a kid for wanting to play big time college football.

Do you attend UO for athletics? Because you certainly don't attend for academics.

If your reading comprehension skills weren't so lower tier, you would've come to understand that Marc didn't compare EWU to Ohio State, he said the way the Buckeyes attacked Oregon's D created a blueprint for other teams. Clearly, EWU doesn't have the personnel that Ohio State does, but that doesn't mean there aren't matchups that EWU will be able to take advantage of (time and time again). Washington's D finished ahead of Oregon's in 2014 (both were terrible), and EWU lit them up. Granted VA was a big part of that, but then again that's also a big reason why Helfrich wanted to steal him. :coffee:

I don't fault Vernon at all, I just don't respect UO for recruiting a kid off of another roster.

Oregon hopes Vernon is successful for their benefit but if he's not it required almost no investment on their part and won't reflect negatively on their graduation rate. This move by Oregon is the worst type of predatory recruiting, I hope they give Vernon a fair chance for everything he is risking for them.

Lower tier, maybe, but we produced a kid better than anyone on the Oregon staff could. Have fun with your new coach, he appears to have a real knack at developing talent...

Just a matter of time before Oregon goes back to the Pac 12 cellar and the world is right again...

I'm pretty sure the FCS has 3 current starting NFL quarterbacks right now and one that will take over for Brady in New England when his time is done. That makes the FCS "big boy" enough for me. If VA is good enough to be in the NFL he will make it regardless of where he plays.

Thanks VA and I sincerely hope it works out at Oregon. Glad to be an Eagle fan; very proud of BB and how he has handled this situation. No one person is bigger than the program. The culture will prevail!
