Hawaii vs UNC

where did Birkel come from? Transfer? straight up recruit?

You will need that DB vs UH that's for sure.

In your opinion, which is your biggest asset, offense or defense?
[/quote]

Birkel transferred from Nebraska.

We will need every DB this year vs. UH. Perhaps we could play with 12?

Unfortunately this team is in such a state of flux it is hard to know what the biggest asset is. We lost our all time leading rusher last year and the remaining RB's are unproven (although we did sign a stud out of Colorado this year - the leading rusher in the largest classification) - so the running game is questionable. The biggest weapon will definitely be Birkel on offense who has blazing speed and excellent hands.

Defense also remains to be seen. We have a very talented LB group but are very thin on the DL.

You have had pretty good teams in the past, but nothing really all that noteworthy. tell me of a few successful UNC alumn in the NFL? I can't think of one.

As for recent players, here are the most notable.

Our all time leading receiver - Vincent Jackson was the second round choice of the San Diego Chargers two years ago. Looks like he is set to become one of their top go to guys this year.

The Pittsburgh Steelers starting defensive end - Aaron Smith is in about his 8th season, has made the pro bowl and has anchored that teams defensive line for years.

The starting punter for the Philadelphia Eagles - Dirk Johnson.

Not as many NFLers as the Rainbows but a few good ones. By the way we love Jason Elam - thank you!! Ashley Lelie was the biggest bust I have ever seen though - so no thanks for that one.

Apparently, it is ok for fans from other schools to come on here and rip us and I have had to bite my tongue because most of the insults are well founded.

I'm not ripping I stay defending.

You laid out my opportunity to smack you on a silver platter and I took that opportunity and ran with it--and the best part is that I struck a very sensitive nerve

Smack down...Keep dreamin man. Sensitive nerve? Naw I just telling it how it is, most Haole, Mainland Ignorant people make fun that were named the rainbow warriors even though were the warriors now since 99.

That is absolutely precious. So you took the rainbow part out of your name--I'm sorry, I was not aware of that. So I guess you are now just the flaming warriors

If your not aware of that then why did U say that..Do your homework bah.
No be like Nofacts Ian. Flaming warriors..the only thing were going to flame is that scoreboard on sept. 1st.

Don't feel bad, the greeks and romans had many gay men in their armies and they were very effective troops, in fact, they struck terror in most of their enemies. The flaming warriors is a very intimidating name now that i think about it.

1st of all Mr. Haole were not the Rainbows and the only people think of that for a football team are very ignorant and stupid. The name Warriors is very intimidating especially when we do the HAKA that'll scare the shit out of the UNC players.

Ashley Lelie was the biggest bust I have ever seen though - so no thanks for that one.

ashlie Lelie led the Broncos in reciving a few years back. The reason why they haven't given him the ball is because they got Jevon Walker which made him go to atlanta without learning the system and now he's in frisco and he will blossum to be a Pro BOwla!!

Birkel would probaby be starting for the Corn if he didn't hate Callahan so much. If he's knee is ok and he had his speed he did two years ago, your db's are going to have a tuff time keeping up with him.

All this smack talk is getting me excited for some football...it's only May! Can't we skip baseball and just get to the gridiron?

GoBears, I saw your picture on the Big Sky website. Funny, you seemed taller when you post ?!?

I don't know anything about Hawaii except what over zealous fans, and home town newspapers have written.

Hopefully speaking for majority of Hawaii fans, we all hope UNC will have a memorable visit to Hawaii, and a safe game.
If anyone is fortunate to travel to Hawaii with the fan base, please come to the tailgating parties at the stadium early, and many of the Hawaii fans will be happy to feed and meet everyone!

I'd agree with that, having looked it up and watched it...and seen players reactions. I can't wait to see it in person!

74, how are you my friend? Here's another video featuring the Haka last year. Check out the Hawaiian #74 stepping out in front of the Haka:

In truth, I did provoke this little hissy fit with the Bad News Bears comment, but it was all in fun. I'm fascinated by the Hawaiian response though. I never knew we had a gay NFL player...huh. Also, note how one of the boys said to show up early for the tailgate...he was serious...we will feed you and talk game with you. You are most welcome.

Football teams change their image all the time. What worked in the '60's won't necessarily work today. A case in point would be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Do you remember the colors and logo? It's a far cry from the black and gold pirates flag you see today.

Anyway, for jjj's sake, I'm gonna get on the phone to June Jones and have him dress the Warriors with the old colors just for you. Would you like that?

Maybe we'll have our basketball players wearing knee high socks and short shorts. Do you remember those?

Aloha.

That is one sweet line dance that your players do before the games! I didn't know line dancing was considered intimidating anywhere in the world. Don't get me wrong, I love watching women line dancing but the 300 lb Samoans and the dorky, uncoordinated white kicker doing their dance routine don't do much for me. Do they play the Macarena while they do their routine? Or is it the Electric Slide?

I wanted to stop talking smack but good god--how can I when you keep laying out material on silver platters like this?

Our kicker? Let me take a stab at this one. Our kickers are a cut above the rest. We may not use him much, because we prefer to score every time we have the ball, but we do let him dance the Haka as part of the team. Maybe we should let him dance a solo, Polynesian knife dance?

That should strike fear into the heart of your kicker anyway.

Ok everyone, this topic got a little out of control.
The smack is fun and fine but I have a problem with some of the gay bashing that went on. I have modified a few of the more offensive posts.

So consider this everyone's official warning. If people keep it up I will have to take additional action.

PS if you have not, please read the forum rules posted under the "Rules" tab at the top of the page.

Thanks.

Hawaii 52,UNC 17.
Hawaii probably will win 10, 11, or 12 games, but playing 2 1AA teams will keep them out of the BCS.

jeez, what the hell has this turned into. anyone actually feel like talking bout the game or what. i cant wait, if only bcause the offseason is to long. and about the comment bout our schedule kepping us out of the BCS, you realize that the Scout site predicted us to the Sugar Bowl.

I hate to say it but I think you are giving us too much credit. How are we going to score 17?
