Hawaii vs UNC

Hawaii is getting some big pre-season honors, this game is no more then a pay day.

Now that spring is over for everyone, I'd say UNC will finish 8th ahead of ISU, WSU gained a big transfer QB, that may be enough to handle you guys.

So is UNC really getting better even though losing that RB? You guys would have to clue me in on who is good cause when you guys played PSU last year there wasn't a single player that stood out from UNC. Can the defense hold up against UH? Top Offense in America could put some serious ware and tear on you guys. I swear if UH leaves you guys beaten and bruised and not ready for Chadron it will be an embarrassment to the conference.

Montana State already beat them to the punch for an embarrassment to the conference. :) Losing to CSC then advancing to the final 8 of the playoffs didn't saw very much about FCS in general. The Big Sky is usually a one trick pony. But that one is a pretty big pony.

We will definitely be better this year (how could we be worse :D ). I think the biggest improvement will be in coaching as we have a new offensive coordinator. From what I can gather, the new OC will take us a bit more back to our roots which is a more pro style offense with a focus on the running game. Last year the OC was a Purdue guy and tried to install the spread offense which we did not have the horses for. When you are outmanned you need to slow the game down and protect your defense with some ball control. I believe we set a new record for 3 and outs last year and the defense could just not stand up to that.

Also, we get back our stud wide receive Andy Birkel who was a transfer from Nebraska. He will definitely be one of the best receivers in the conference and probably the country. The QB situation looks a bit more settled as last years starter has a year under his belt and we have a transfer from Indiana that is pushing him pretty hard. RB is a question mark but we did land a big time recruit out of Denver. He led the state in rushing in our largest classification but was a little short for any big time offers so we were able to sneak in on him.

As for the Hawaii game, we all realize that it will be tough. We hope to keep it respectable, but short of a monsoon we all realize it is going to get ugly. I think the team will be happy to get to the islands, it will be a nice payday and hopefully we won't get too banged up.

Well said

We're still going to beat you though.

Short running backs can be very effective. Just ask CSC. That kid looked good last year through the 5A playoffs.

Being short can be an advantage if you know how to use it. Just look at Sproles from K-State, defenses had a hard time finding him :D

 I agree

Found this on the UH board, this is the threat most fans don't see from Hawaii, their Parade All American RB. Leon Jackson

So Chadrock, was beating MSU like a chain reaction? Colorado loses to a lower team, the MSU does, did Chadrock continue that? Oh and BTW you guys won't beat UNC. If the bears lose to you guys they would lose all their games, CSU should be the last team UNC loses to.

The chain reaction didn't make it any farther the CSC. Have you seen CSC play?

He will tear your boys to shreds! As if that isn't what every team that plays UNC is already doing  Get real!

Saturday, October 07, 2006 PSU at Montana St (Bozeman, MT) L 0 - 14

You guys must have not learned much from it. Shutout, Ouch :D

Sept. 9 Montana State vs Chadron State W 35-24 Bozeman, MT

Woodhead’s 225 yards rushing were almost three times more than the Bobcats managed. "He's good," Kramer said of Woodhead. "He's really good. He reminds me of (Walter Payton Trophy candidate) James Noble of Cal Poly, and we haven't beaten Cal Poly since Robert E. Lee was marching north."

Sept. 8 Chadron State 0 vs Northern Colorado 65

UNC plays up to its ability and becomes a real FCS school by stomping on a small Division II school in Colorado or Utah or whatever state they are in. The next day Chadron drops football

Just cause you beat MSU doesn't mean you will beat PSU, nor UNC for that fact. Go back to the division II board.

Back to topic I'm sure most UNC fans realize that UH will most likely post the biggest blowout in college football this year when UNC comes to town.

PSUVikings - what is your fascination with the UNC - Hawaii game? Are you jealous that you are not headed there? Everyone on this board has made it very clear that we expect to lose. We do not need you coming on rubbing our nose in it all the time. You obviously have some deep hatred for the Bears (yes we've all seen the thread you started on AGS and your continual bashing of us over there also).

Admittedly, we are a bit down right now which is new territory for us. We have a proud program and a very strong tradition. We will be back, it is just going to take some time. Look back to your first years in the Big Sky, you were cellar dwellers your first couple of years also. We will return to prominence and we will be competing for championships in the near term. Agreed, not this year but soon.

Not going to get to in depth, but with Tyler looking very good as a backup QB I'd say UH wins 70-3. Our defense is going to be elite this season so 3 points may be stretching it believe it or not. Colt and the boys will score with ease.

Hope you fans decide to come, the experience will be fun despite the score. Good luck on the rest of your season.

Is it September 1st yet?

The game is on a Saturday. It's the slow season over here, so there should be many opportunities for flights and rooms. A weekend in Hawaii can't be too bad. Enjoy Waikiki Friday night, and jump on an express bus to the stadium Saturday afternoon. How many of you are coming?

I'm planning on going right now. The only thing that can throw a wrench in the works is a work trip that I am trying to reschedule. Come on a trip to Hawaii to watch the bears play - that is sweet. Hell even if we lose by 80 that is still sweet.
